As Mayor of Lake Worth, I instituted "Operation We've Got Your Back" to extend salary and benefits to city employees who were called up to active military duty so that their spouses and children's' health insurance and income levels would be maintained while they were away on active duty. A police officer shouldn't have to leave his family to fight for my freedom and also worry that his daughter won't be able to buy a prom dress. Those involved generously recognized me and my commission with a plaque.
