Philosophy:
Dr. McLeod's work with couples and families focuses on improving relationship communication skills so that family members can solve problems more effectively. In her work with teens and adults struggling with the social and emotional challenges of autism spectrum disorders, Dr. McLeod helps people identify ways that this particular way of being in the world is both a strength and a challenge, and then she works to identify specific skill sets that need to be learned. In addition to her work directly with autistic clients, Dr. McLeod works with parents of children, teens and young adults as they struggle with the unique challenges of parenting a person with developmental disabilities or chronic mental illness. Dr. McLeod often speaks in the community on topics ranging from parenting teens in a digital world to succeeding in college with asperger syndrome. She is the founder and co-owner of Counseling Psychologists of Woodbury.
