Heating Panel Having Heat Conducting Beam And Heating Cable Mounted Therein

US Patent:
6614992, Sep 2, 2003
Filed:
Mar 5, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/799307
Inventors:
Robert D. Schmitt - Littleton CO 80120
International Classification:
H05B 328
US Classification:
392435, 219213
Abstract:
A heated platform is formed by one or more elongated boards or planks, each having an elongated lower surface with a pair of spaced-apart longitudinally extending channels defined therein. An elongated heat conducting metal beam is operatively mounted in heat conducting relation in each channel. The beam defines a central, wide, inner channel opening in one direction and a pair of narrower side cable channels one on each side of the central channel and opening in a direction opposite to the direction of opening of the inner channel. An electric heating cable is operatively mounted in heat conducting relation in the beam cable channels for supplying heat to the beam for transfer to the board or plank. The heated planks or boards are useful particularly for forming decks and seating for hot tubs, as well as for walkways and stairs.

Method And Apparatus For Maintaining Contents Of A Compressed Gas Cylinder At A Desired Temperature

US Patent:
5986240, Nov 16, 1999
Filed:
Jan 6, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/003227
Inventors:
Robert D. Schmitt - Littleton CO
Durwin A. Schmitt - Littleton CO
William C. Russo - Neshanic Station NJ
Roberto J. Sweeney - New Tripoli PA
Assignee:
MG Industries - Malvern PA
International Classification:
A21B 100
US Classification:
219391
Abstract:
A cabinet, sized to accommodate a compressed gas cylinder, includes a heater which maintains the contents of the cylinder within a desired temperature range. By heating the air surrounding the cylinder, the heater heats not only the cylinder but also its valve and regulator. Vent holes, placed near the top and bottom of the cabinet, provide continuous air flow, preventing possible accumulation of flammable gas in the cabinet in the event of a cylinder leak. The invention is especially useful in maintaining a calibration gas at a temperature which insures the stability of the components of the gas. The invention can also be used in any situation in which it is necessary to heat a compressed gas cylinder.

Storage Enclosure

US Patent:
5975329, Nov 2, 1999
Filed:
Apr 21, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/844735
Inventors:
Robert D. Schmitt - Littleton CO
International Classification:
B65D 4300
US Classification:
220350
Abstract:
A storage enclosure ideally suited for use under kitchen cabinets on the kitchen counter top is disclosed. The enclosure has a top, bottom, right and left side, as well as a roll-top lid. The roll-top lid is slidably received in grooves provided in the right and left sides of the enclosure, which enable the lid to be opened and closed in the normal fashion a roll-top lid is used. The enclosure also includes notches located at the ends of the grooves on the backside of the enclosure for enabling the roll-top lid to be easily removed from the enclosure. In addition, the leading edge of the roll-top lid is provided with a cutting blade for cutting sheet material which is dispensed from the enclosure.
