Safe, Accurate And Fast Measuring Device

US Patent:
5445023, Aug 29, 1995
Filed:
Apr 15, 1994
Appl. No.:
8/228227
Inventors:
Robert R. Reed - Greenville SC
International Classification:
G01F 1900
US Classification:
73427
Abstract:
A measuring device consisting of a container or vessel is disclosed in this invention to provide a safe, accurate and fast means to obtain a desired quantity of a fluent material. The fluent material can be any liquid or grandular material that has a relatively flat top surface. The container has a first volumetric portion that contains an exact volume when filled to the level of an overflow weir. A small overflow volume is allowed to pass over the weir into a second volumetric portion of the container. A diaphragm separates the two volumetric portions and is positioned within the container to allow the exact volume to be discharged without discharging the overflow volume. The overflow volume is safely returned to a bulk source container to conserve the fluent material. Only limited dexterity is required to quickly obtain an exact volume; as a safety lip is provided above the top surface of the fluent material which is limited by the weir height above a base of the container. The container is especially useful when toxic or hazardous fluent materials are being dispensed as in a laboratory or manufacturing process.

Display/Storage Rack For Hangings

US Patent:
6206210, Mar 27, 2001
Filed:
Jan 29, 1999
Appl. No.:
9/239869
Inventors:
Robert Raymond Reed - Greenville SC
Assignee:
Patent Consultants & Services, Inc. - Greer SC
International Classification:
A47F5/08
US Classification:
211 96
Abstract:
A display/storage rack system for hangings. The hangings are each carried by an elongated hanging member. Commonly the hanging is draped over the elongated hanging member. The rack system is affixed to a vertical support surface and supports a first end of the elongated hanging member as a cantilever; with an optional fixed bracket device supporting a second end of the elongated hanging member for displaying the hangings. A plurality of pivotal support devices of the rack system include offset arms for supporting and displaying the hangings in the rack in spaced apart vertical planes so that they do not contact one another and their top edges are at a different elevation. Hangings are displayed so that a top portion of each hanging is visible from the front of the storage rack. A pivot support rod of the rack system supports the pivotal support devices so that it can be rotated about a pivotal axis of the rack system. The hangings at the front of the rack can be rotated out of the way when hangings at the back of the rack nearer to the support surface are to be retrieved.

Strobe Light For A Vehicle Tire And Wheel

US Patent:
5548274, Aug 20, 1996
Filed:
Jul 20, 1995
Appl. No.:
8/504446
Inventors:
Kent G. Anderson - Bismarck ND
Robert R. Reed - Greenville SC
International Classification:
B60Q 126
US Classification:
340468
Abstract:
The lighting device and method of this invention makes the wheel well areas of a vehicle available for displaying messages and graphical indicia. The lighting device also allows the wheel well to be illuminated during normal and emergency repairs when insufficient light is available. The lighting device further enhances the appearance of the vehicle and will attract the attention of others. The lighting device can have a sensor to monitor the rotation of the tire and has a pulse modulator to synchronize light flashes from a flash generator with information a sidewall of the tire. The tire will appear to be stopped. A stroboscopic flash tube is used to provide bright flashes of light for a short duration to illuminate the wheel well including the tire. A number of different indicia can be displayed on each tire by modulating the frequency and the phase angle of the light flashes.
