Abstract:
A system and method are disclosed which enable measurement of usage of one or more gateways in managing network elements. A system may include at least one gateway that is executable to maintain gateway usage information detailing the amount of usage of such gateway in managing network elements. Gateway usage may include, for example, gateway processing, such as handling of messages received by a gateway from one or more network elements. The gateway(s) may be communicatively coupled to a usage management system and may communicate usage information thereto. An Application Program Interface (API) may be implemented on a gateway, which may provide the functionality for maintaining a count of different types of usage that may occur thereon. The gateway may include software code that invokes the API upon occurrence of a particular type of usage, and the API may maintain a count of such particular type of usage.

Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a system and method which provide RPC communication services utilizing distributed shared memory. A process operating on a first client platform may write an RPC message into a shared memory segment that is also accessible by an RPC server. The process may notify the RPC server of the RPC message by setting a condition variable. A thread operating on the RPC server may remove the RPC message for distribution to another client. Similarly, RPC messages may be distributed to clients by writing the RPC messages into respective shared memory segments. Notification of outbound RPC messages may also be provided by respective condition variables.

Abstract:
A system and method for reducing unnecessary alert messages is achieved by allowing a user agent to store alert, and alert update, messages in storage remote from the alert generation system. Typically, these alerts would come from a central source, such as a rule engine. Without local storage of prior alerts, the rule engine would have to generate new alerts for each new user entering the system.
