Apparatus For Sensing Non-Coded Images

US Patent:
4260979, Apr 7, 1981
Filed:
Dec 31, 1979
Appl. No.:
6/108439
Inventors:
Robert C. Smith - Austin TX
Assignee:
International Business Machines Corporation - Armonk NY
International Classification:
G06K 900
US Classification:
3401463H
Abstract:
Scanning apparatus is provided for sensing non-coded images on a substrate. Hand-held scanning apparatus comprises a group of light sensitive elements for sensing the light and dark pattern of the image as the scanner is moved across the substrate and means for sensing the velocity of the scanner. The velocity determination is carried out through sensing means which comprise an X-Y coordinate grid positioned between the scanner and the substrate, means for sensing the rectilinear component of movement of two positions on said scanner with respect to the X lines in said grid together with the means for sensing the rectilinear component with at least one position on said scanner with respect to the Y lines on said grid. With this capability of calculating the rectilinear components of three such points or positions, the velocity of a given movement of the scanner in the X-Y and. theta. (rotational) directions may be determined.

Ultra-Late Programming Rom And Method Of Manufacture

US Patent:
2002004, Apr 11, 2002
Filed:
Dec 4, 2001
Appl. No.:
10/006273
Inventors:
Patrice Parris - Phoenix AZ, US
Bruce Morton - Austin TX, US
Walter Ciosek - Austin TX, US
Mark Aurora - Austin TX, US
Robert Smith - Austin TX, US
International Classification:
H01L021/8236
US Classification:
438/278000
Abstract:
A ROM embedded in a multi-layered integrated circuit includes rows of transistor memory cells. For reduced area, each transistor in a row optionally shares a terminal with an adjacent transistor in the row, whereby adjacent transistors share one of a source and a drain. A plurality of contact lines a connected to each common terminal, serve as address terminals for cells. A plurality of metal layers are connected to the other of the drain or source terminals by filled vias and include a final metal layer defining a metal pad for each of the other terminals. Filled vias couple selected metal pads to selected signal lines to provide “1” outputs from selected cells and signal lines which are not coupled by filled vias to the metal pads provide “0” outputs from selected cells.
