Hydraulically Actuated Liner Hanger

US Patent:
5038860, Aug 13, 1991
Filed:
Nov 3, 1989
Appl. No.:
7/431302
Inventors:
J. Lindley Baugh - Houston TX
Robert M. Shivers - Patterson LA
Assignee:
Baker Hughes Incorporated - Houston TX
International Classification:
E21B 2304
US Classification:
166208
Abstract:
A hanger for suspending a liner in a cased subterranean well comprises an elongated tubular body having ramp elements formed on its exterior and a plurality of peripherally spaced slip elements secured to a sleeve piston surrounding the lower end of the tubular body. Seals provided intermediate the piston and the tubular body define a first fluid pressure chamber. A clean fluid is supplied to the first pressure chamber through an axially extending passageway of restricted diameter provided in the wall of the tubular body and having an opening at its bottom end communicating with the first pressure chamber and at its top end communicating with a second pressure chamber defined by a tubing carried run-in tool detachably engaged with the liner hanger. The two pressure chambers and the restricted diameter passage are filled with clean fluid at the surface and pressure is applied to the clean fluid through an isolating piston mounted in the second fluid pressure chamber and actuated by non-clean fluids supplied through the tubular string upon which the run-in tool is suspended.

Assignee:
Texaco Inc. - White Plains NY
International Classification:
E21B 7128
US Classification:
175 7
Abstract:
A subsea drilling drive pipe apparatus for drilling offshore wells from a floating vessel into the ocean floor. An elongated drilling drive pipe including a plurality of locking pads which are circumferentially positioned about the drive pipe periphery. A foundation structure is removably engageable with the elongated drive pipe by one or more locking pins which detachably engage the drive pipe thereby permitting the assembled members to be lowered as a unit to the ocean floor in contemplation of a subsea well drilling operation.

Math Teaching Aid

US Patent:
4078318, Mar 14, 1978
Filed:
May 4, 1976
Appl. No.:
5/683196
Inventors:
Robert M. Shivers - Patterson LA
International Classification:
G09B 1902
US Classification:
35 31R
Abstract:
A math teaching aid device comprising a base structure having upright guides and supports extending vertically therefrom for holding instructional cards for indicating the type of math problem to be taught and solved, together with a gravity operated pointer structure and appropriate guides therefor. Stackable blocks are aligned and contained within portions of the guide structure for association with the charts and the pivotably mounted pointer. As the device is arranged a student being taught simple arithmetic may by counting the number of blocks stacked on the device and in association with the appropriate indicator cards may verify the correct answers to the math problems being solved. This will effectively help the student in learning the correct math.
