System And Method For Encrypting Information Within A Communications Network

US Patent:
6707914, Mar 16, 2004
Filed:
Nov 29, 1999
Appl. No.:
09/450861
Inventors:
Robert T. Bell - Bountiful UT
Assignee:
Cisco Technology, Inc. - San Jose CA
International Classification:
G06F 0124
US Classification:
380 46, 380 23, 380 43, 380 50
Abstract:
Within a communications system, first and second end stations coupled to a network participate in a communications session with one another using the network. Each end station includes an encryptor having at least a first linear feedback shift register (LFSR) and at least an associated first interconnect mask of a length not longer than the length of the first LFSR. At a particular one of the end stations, the encryptor generates an output sequence using the first LFSR and the first interconnect mask. An interconnect mask table contains polynomials that each correspond to an available interconnect mask. The end station receives a session key specifying the first interconnect mask. The end station uses the output sequence of the encryptor to encrypt an information stream during the session. In one particular embodiment, the network includes a local area network (LAN) that supports Internet Protocol (IP) and the end stations use real time protocol (RTP) to communicate audio information streams.

Remotely Powerable Device With Powerability Indicator For Selectively Indicating A Backward Wired Device Condition And A Remotely Powerable Device Condition

US Patent:
6874093, Mar 29, 2005
Filed:
Jan 14, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/757086
Inventors:
Robert Bell - Bountiful UT, US
Assignee:
Cisco Technology, Inc. - San Jose CA
International Classification:
G06F001/26
US Classification:
713300, 713310, 713320, 713340, 710313, 710315, 710300, 710303
Abstract:
The invention is directed to techniques for discovering a powerability condition of a computer network such as the existence of a remotely powerable device attached to a connecting medium of the computer network. Such detection can then control whether a remote power source (e. g. , a data communications device such as a switch) provides remote power (e. g. , phantom power) to the computer network. One arrangement of the invention is directed to an apparatus for discovering a powerability condition of a computer network. The apparatus includes a signal generator, a detector and a controller which is coupled to the signal generator and the detector. The controller configures the signal generator to provide a test signal to a connecting medium of the computer network, and configures the detector to measure a response signal from the connecting medium of the computer network. The controller then indicates whether a remotely powerable device connects to the connecting medium of the computer network based on the response signal. Accordingly, if the apparatus discovers a remotely powerable device attached to the computer network (i. e.

Abstract:
In one embodiment, a secure computer telephony integration (CTI) connection is established between a call analysis and/or screening device and a call control agent. The call analysis device sniffs secure media packets between the endpoints and receives CTI events from the call control agent via the secure CTI connection. The device correlates the CTI events with the secure media packets, enabling the device to decrypt the packets to perform voice quality troubleshooting or call screening in real-time.

Abstract:
The present disclosure describes techniques evaluating compute and/or thermal loads (among other things) to aid in managing a collection of one or more containerized or modular data centers. For example, forecasts (or real-time measurements) of environmental factors (as well as projected computing demands) may be used to tailor the compute loads, cooling strategies or other metric of data center operations for a network of containerized or modular data centers. Doing so allows an operator of such a data center network to manage specific operational goals in real time.
