Ion Pump And An Electrochemical Engine Using Same

US Patent:
2009003, Feb 12, 2009
Filed:
Jan 2, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/006419
Inventors:
Robert Paul Johnson - Glendale AZ, US
International Classification:
C25B 15/00, C25B 9/04, F02C 7/00
US Classification:
60783, 204520, 204450, 204630
Abstract:
An ion pump that generates a stream of unbalanced aqueous anions that transit from a cathode surface to a region adjacent to an anode surface. The ion pump works in conjunction with an ultrasound generator that produces standing waves having the intensity to dehydrogenate liquid hydrocarbons at the catalytic anode surface. Current density of the ion pump and frequency of the ultrasound transducer are synchronized according to the rate hydrogen permeates through a membrane. An electrochemical engine uses ion pumps and ultrasound generators to convert liquid hydrocarbon fuel to useful work while recovering hydrogen-depleted carbon from the fuel for recycling, including production of renewable fuel. When carbon is recovered, carbon dioxide is not produced. Tensile stress applied to the ion-pump membranes by rotation, high-frequency pressure waves, and radial acceleration of the interstitial hydrogen are applied in a collective manner that facilitates hydrogen permeation through the ion pump membranes.

Solar-Powered, Liquid-Hydrocarbon-Fuel Synthesizer

US Patent:
2008016, Jul 10, 2008
Filed:
Jan 2, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/006418
Inventors:
Robert Paul Johnson - Glendale AZ, US
International Classification:
F01D 1/00, H02K 7/18, F03G 6/00, B01J 8/00, F01D 15/10
US Classification:
60517, 290 1 R, 290 52, 606418, 422146
Abstract:
A synchronous reaction cell, rotating as a unit, disassociates hydrogen from water, traps and filters hydrogen, mixes and pressurizes hydrogen and ingested carbon, hydrogenates carbon by surface catalysis, isolates and exhausts liquid hydrocarbon products above a desired density, recirculates gaseous products for further reaction, and expands steam through a turbine to produce rotation and turn an electrical generator. Solar energy focused by heliostats is one means of supplying process heat. Burning natural gas or another fossil fuel in oxygen freed by the disassociation of water provides alternative sources of heat. The reaction cell has a vertical axis-of-rotation making it conducive to mounting on a tower disposed at the center of an array of heliostats. The rotating reaction cell has a large, cylindrical heat-absorbing surface. Electrical output might be used to aim heliostats. Excess electrical generation might be added to the local electrical grid and sold for its value.

Business Methods Of Renewable Hydrocarbon-Based Fuel

US Patent:
2008016, Jul 10, 2008
Filed:
Jan 2, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/006427
Inventors:
Robert Paul Johnson - Glendale AZ, US
International Classification:
B67D 5/00
US Classification:
705413
Abstract:
A business process where hydrogen-depleted carbon, a fuel byproduct, that is removed from pumped-ion, electrochemical engines, or a similar device derived therefrom, is used directly or indirectly to supply carbon that is used as a reactant in solar-powered, liquid-hydrocarbon-fuel synthesizers, or a similar device derived therefrom, the reuse of the recovered carbon thereby yielding a renewable supply of hydrocarbon-based fuel. The synthesized fuel produced by the solar-powered, liquid-hydrocarbon-fuel synthesizers is converted to useful work by the pumped-ion, electrochemical engines. Little to no carbon dioxide gas is exhausted into the atmosphere when solar energy is the sole source of process heat used by the synthesizer.

Jewelry With Interchangeable Elements

US Patent:
4879882, Nov 14, 1989
Filed:
Aug 15, 1988
Appl. No.:
7/232109
Inventors:
Robert P. Johnson - Glendale AZ
Janice A. Johnson - Glendale AZ
Assignee:
RPJ Development Corporation - Phoenix AZ
International Classification:
A44C 502
US Classification:
63 4
Abstract:
A jewelry pendant device includes a vertical square stem having an open loop at an upper end and a retainer at the lower end. A plurality of decorative beads is threaded on the stem to fill the space between the retainer and the open loop. Releasing the retainer permits interchange of the beads to customize the pendant for the wearer. The beads may be cubical and may have letters or symbols on the faces thereofo. The open loop may be attached to ear hooks or clips, bracelets, necklaces, pins or the like to permit the pendant to be worn.
