Philosophy:
I believe in an old-fashion recipe to come to an accurate diagnosis; one part listening to the patient?s story or complaints, one part physical exam, and one part diagnostic imaging or tests. It is when all three of these components point in the same direction that one can come to a diagnosis. I believe the most common, avoidable mistake in making a diagnosis is over-emphasizing one of these elements. While medical training can be heavy in technical instruction, I was very fortunate to have mentors at every stage that reinforced the importance of understanding all facets of a patient?s presentation.
I believe a well-informed patient is a better patient. Therefore, I will spend time explaining your pathology and the rationale behind the treatment options. This facilitates your involvement, in a real way, in the decision making process. I stress a non-operative approach but am skilled at all arthroscopic and open surgical options when they become necessary.
