Elliptical Solar Reflector

US Patent:
4164934, Aug 21, 1979
Filed:
Aug 16, 1976
Appl. No.:
5/714497
Inventors:
Robert V. Anderson - Fort Worth TX
International Classification:
F24J 302
US Classification:
126438
Abstract:
A fixedly supported, low cost solar energy collecting device having an elliptical solar reflector is provided which is capable of efficiently collecting and concentrating solar energy during all seasons and sun declinations notwithstanding complete elimination of mechanism for shifting the reflector to follow the sun's path. The collector includes an elongated, trough-like reflector which substantially coincides with a section of a focal end surface of an imaginary elliptical cylinder, with a heat exchange fluid tube positioned along the adjacent focal line of the imaginary elliptical cylinder; in this fashion, solar rays passing through or parallel to the remaining focal line of the imaginary cylinder and striking the reflector are focused onto the heat exchange tube, so that solar energy collection is concentrated without the necessity of precisely orienting the reflector relative to the sun. In preferred forms, a plurality of juxtaposed reflector units are provided in the collection device, with the reflector focal lines being positioned along a geographic east-to-west line and at an angle of elevation equal to the latitude of the collector's position on the earth.

Method Of Stabilizing Clay Formations

US Patent:
4158521, Jun 19, 1979
Filed:
Jun 26, 1978
Appl. No.:
5/919215
Inventors:
Robert W. Anderson - Fort Worth TX
Bob G. Kannenberg - Arlington TX
Assignee:
The Western Company of North America - Fort Worth TX
International Classification:
E02D 314, E21B 3313
US Classification:
405264
Abstract:
A solution of an oxygenated polyamine, which is the reaction product of dimethylamine and epichlorohydrin, has been discovered to possess excellent stabilization properties when used as a treatment for stabilizing a clay containing formation, for example in the treatment of oil and gas producing boreholes which penetrate clay containing formations. Preferred copolymers of this type which are useful in clay formation treatments include those having epichlorohydrin to dimethylamine mole ratios in the range of from about 0. 79 to about 0. 93.

Method And Apparatus For Inserting A Filled Prosthetic Bladder Into A Patient

US Patent:
8641758, Feb 4, 2014
Filed:
Aug 3, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/197020
Inventors:
Robert G. Anderson - Fort Worth TX, US
Bryan Hunt - Saratoga TX, US
International Classification:
A61F 2/12
US Classification:
623 8, 623 7, 623 2364, 623 2365, 623 237
Abstract:
The apparatus includes a funnel member, a coupling member and retractors. The funnel member is flexible and is frusto-conical in shape. The funnel member proximal end opening is larger than the distal end opening. The funnel member couples to a distal or coupling member that is located at the funnel member distal end portion. The distal or coupling member is rigid and has catches for removably coupling to the retractors. In use, the retractors anchor the apparatus to the patient while allowing the funnel member to be manipulated to force the prosthesis into a surgical cavity of a patient.

Hose Coupling

US Patent:
4236736, Dec 2, 1980
Filed:
May 1, 1978
Appl. No.:
5/901493
Inventors:
Robert V. Anderson - Fort Worth TX
Assignee:
Turnbuckle Products Corporation - Fort Worth TX
International Classification:
F16L 3322, F16L 4100
US Classification:
285150
Abstract:
An improvement in an accessory for a garden hose and the like in which an end of the hose is to be connected with a supplementary fitting characterized by a centerpiece adapted to sealingly receive the end of the hose, a gripper for moving longitudinally into gripping relationship with the hose, a turnbuckle for drawing the gripper into gripping relationship with the hose responsive to relative rotational movement of the turnbuckle with respect to the gripper and rotation prevention means to prevent relative rotational movement between the gripper and the centerpiece. Also disclosed are preferred structures and embodiments in which, for example, a whole coupling has mirror image type centerpieces, grippers, turnbuckles, and rotation prevention means; dual slope inverted frusto conical sections; right hand and left hand threads for effecting the longitudinal movement of the grippers; the multiple-piece structure of the turnbuckle insert; the tangs on the grippers engaging slot means on the centerpiece to prevent relative rotation; the retention structure on the tangs limiting axial travel of the grippers; and the removable inverted frusto conical sections of the centerpiece.
