Abstract:

An electronic counter counter-measure (ECCM) system for overcoming the effect of sidelobe repeater or stand off jammer type electronic counter measures (ECM). A primary monopulse type antenna is divided into four quadrants for transmission and reception with the received sum and difference signals being combined in a ferrite modulator. When ECM is detected, the reception pattern is switched so that only the difference signals from the modulator are utilized for the received energy. The power at the receiver in response to only difference signals, relative to the conventional power, allows a threshold to be established to allow blanking of the radar display in a narrow azimuth region about the true azimuth position of the jamming source. The displayed azimuth region that is affected by the jammer, is reduced to only a few degrees on either side of the jammer position.

Abstract:

A simplified and reliable system for electronically controlling the angular position relative to an antenna axis of the ground areas from which radar signals are received and processed so that air-to-ground range may be measured accurately regardless of the roll angle of the aircraft in which the radar is mounted. In a radar silent lobing system in which lobing is done on reception of the transmitted signals, the roll compensation system provides direct current signals which are proportional to the sine and cosine of one-half the roll angle and which are selectively applied to the pole pairs of the azimuth and elevation poles of the ferrite modulator that is utilized in the lobing system. During range determining operations, first and second pole pairs each of an azimuth and elevation pole, or group of azimuth and elevation poles, are energized or selected during alternate lobing or pulse repetition frequency intervals. The system functions at any roll angle. alpha.

Abstract:

An airplane with an electric motor and rechargable battery pack are disclosed herein. The electric motor is of the high performance variety (i. e. , it has a very high power rating for its size and weight). Means are provided for producing a high velocity blast of cooling air directly onto the rotating armeture for rapidly dissipating the waste heat generated inside of the motor. Means are also provided for obtaining a large power output from the battery pack and for very rapidly recharging the battery pack. A remote control system is included for controlling the operation of the airplane from a remote location.
