Abstract:
There is assigned at least one first cost for expanding at least one link to a circuit-switched network that is part of a hybrid network comprising the circuit switched network and a packet switched network. All paths in the packet switched network are represented with a virtual link. A cost is assigned to the virtual link. An integer programming problem is solved to determine a number of links to add to the network, the integer programming problem having as inputs a model of the hybrid network and a demand forecast matrix.

Filed:
Feb 20, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/081411
Inventors:
Avner Schneur - Lexington MA, US
Rina Rotshild Schneur - Lexington MA, US
Ge Li - Austin TX, US
Charles H. Rosa - Waltham MA, US
Assignee:
Emptoris, Inc. - Burlington MA
International Classification:

US Classification:
705 264, 705 37
Abstract:
A computer-implemented method for satisfying a purchase requisition includes receiving, from each of a plurality of candidate suppliers, a corresponding plurality of bids. At least one candidate supplier includes, with its bids, an offer of a business-volume discount that is triggered when an aggregate purchase of at least one unit of a first item and at least one unit of a second item is within a defined volume interval. An optimal award schedule for satisfaction of the purchase requisition is then determined.
