System And Method To Track Wireless Device And Communications Usage

US Patent:
2005021, Sep 29, 2005
Filed:
Mar 24, 2005
Appl. No.:
10/907229
Inventors:
Richard Reece - Lee NH, US
Matthew Stowell - Saco ME, US
Assignee:
MERLIN MOBILE MEDIA - Lee NH
International Classification:
H04Q007/24
US Classification:
370252000, 370338000
Abstract:
A system and method for gathering and reporting user and device activity data from wireless communication devices through a log file. The log file stores entries related to user events including the use of communications and applications, as well as access to local and remote media resource files. The log file entries may include parameters critical to mobile device operation such as location, signal quality, and battery power. The data gathering system comprises a plurality of wireless communications devices, each of which sends the log files through an available wireless communications system to a central facility for processing and aggregation into a database. Stored data is analyzed to generate, display, and marketing information that may include historical trends and projections of future consumer preferences and activities.

Threshold Pricing In Dynamically Priced

US Patent:
2003006, Mar 27, 2003
Filed:
Aug 26, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/229340
Inventors:
Richard Reece - Lee NH, US
International Classification:
G06F017/60
US Classification:
705/412000, 705/400000
Abstract:
In a telecommunications system where the price of communications is established by the network operator (“the seller”) in accordance with actual or predicted demand in such fine increments that it becomes “dynamic” from the user's perspective because the prices vary to such a high degree that individual users (“buyers”) are unable to execute a rational economic decision without incurring prohibitively high transaction costs. The present invention provides a method to reduce the transaction costs of such a system by determining and storing individual users' “threshold prices” for a variety of communications and circumstances. By comparing the network operator's offered price for the communication with the user's pre-determined threshold price, and executing a decision automatically based on the results of the comparison, the invention significantly reduces the transaction costs to the user and network operator to the point where dynamic pricing becomes viable and beneficial for both the seller and buyer.

Global Encryption System

US Patent:
7006633, Feb 28, 2006
Filed:
Jul 17, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/617913
Inventors:
Richard W. Reece - Lee NH, US
Assignee:
Global Encryption Standard Corporation - Washington DC
International Classification:
H04L 9/00
US Classification:
380260, 380277
Abstract:
A system and method for encryption, transmission and decryption of data based on a publicly or other wide area broadcast random number sequence. Encryption is by a selected subsequence from the broadcast random number sequence, the selection being at a sample time relative to a synchronization event, with the sample time calculated based on a private key. Decryption uses the same private key to select the same subsequence from the broadcast random number sequence, as detection by the sender and receiver of the synchronization event and a sampling time based on a commonly known private key allows the sampling to be synchronous. Alternative embodiments employ trusted agents if the tender and receiver do not have a common private key.
