International Classification:
G06F015/173, G06F015/16
US Classification:
709/224000, 709/203000
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for determining transfer time and/or bandwidth between devices connected to a computer network includes sending a script or redirect signal to a browser attempting to fetch a banner from a server that causes a timer or clock to run between the initiation of a subsequent fetch page, fetch image, or other request by the browser and the delivery of subsequent data to the browser. The bandwidth of the device and/or the transfer time between the server and the device on which the browser is operating and the bandwidth of the device can then be used in the selection of which subsequent files, images, scripts, banners, executable software, or other content to be served to the browser or in the selection or configuration of web pages, electronic mail, or executable software to be served to the browser. In addition, the operational or performance characteristics or configuration of the device on which the browser is operating can also be determined and used during the selection of which subsequent files, images, banners, executable software or other content to be served to the browser or in the selection or configuration of web pages, electronic mail, or executable software to be served to the browser.

Telecommunication System For Automatic Switching Between Voice And Visual Data Communications Using Forms

Telecommunication System For Automatic Switching Between Voice And Visual Data Communications Using Forms

US Patent:
5583922, Dec 10, 1996
Filed:
Apr 5, 1995
Appl. No.:
8/417201
Inventors:
Richard A. Davis - Boulder CO
Anthony J. Brittain - Boulder CO
Richard A. Smith - Lafayette CO
Assignee:
Radish Communication Systems, Inc. - Boulder CO
International Classification:
H04M 1100
US Classification:
379 96
Abstract:
A telecommunication system provides voice and data communications over a conventional telephone line between a server station and a client station using visual forms. The client station includes a processor, display, telephone, and data circuit-terminating equipment (DCE) for data communications. The server station includes a processor, DCE, and either a telephone or a voice card for audio communications. Each DCE includes a modem, a start signal generator for transmitting a start signal over the telephone line prior to transmission of data by the modem, a start signal detector, and a switch that automatically switches the DCE from voice mode to data mode while data is being communicated. The client processor also includes a definition of a visual form having a number of controls with predetermined properties, including properties defining permissible actions that can be taken with respect to each control and instructions to be executed in response to specified actions. The client employs a mouse, keyboard, or the like to select a control in the visual form and to perform an action on the selected control.

Type Identification And Parameter Selection For Drive Control In A Coriolis Flowmeter

Type Identification And Parameter Selection For Drive Control In A Coriolis Flowmeter

US Patent:
6318186, Nov 20, 2001
Filed:
Jun 28, 1999
Appl. No.:
9/344841
Inventors:
Richard L. Smith - Lafayette CO
Brian T. Smith - Johnston CO
Assignee:
Micro Motion, Inc. - Boulder CO
International Classification:
G01F 184
US Classification:
73861356
Abstract:
A system for initializing parameters of a transmitter connected to a Coriolis flowmeter. This invention applies initial drive signals to a drive circuit which causes a flow tube to vibrate. The type of the flow tube is then determined from signals received from pick-off sensors associated with the flow tube. Parameters for generation of said drive signals are then set based upon the type of said flow tube.
