Electroless Deposition Of Electrically Nonconductive Copper-Boron Coatings On Nonmetallic Substrates

US Patent:
4082898, Apr 4, 1978
Filed:
Jun 23, 1975
Appl. No.:
5/589108
Inventors:
Richard G. Miller - Pittsburgh PA
Roy L. Cavitt - New Kensington PA
Assignee:
PPG Industries, Inc. - Pittsburgh PA
International Classification:
B32B 900, B32B 1706
US Classification:
428427
Abstract:
An electrically nonconductive copper-boron film is deposited on the surface of a substrate, particularly a nonmetallic substrate such as glass, by reducing a copper salt with a small amount of alkali metal borohydride in the presence of a complexing agent such as Rochelle salt or ethylenediamine tetraacetate salts. The resultant copper-boron coated substrate may be further heated until it assumes a copper-bronze appearance by reflection, resulting in a copper-boron coated article, or the copper-boron coated substrate may be subjected to chemical reduction, resulting in a copper coated article of superior uniformity.

Label With Clear Adhesive Portion

US Patent:
2005014, Jun 30, 2005
Filed:
Dec 3, 2004
Appl. No.:
11/003895
Inventors:
Richard Miller - Pittsburgh PA, US
Robert Snyder - Glenshaw PA, US
International Classification:
B42D015/00
US Classification:
283081000
Abstract:
One aspect of the present invention relates to a label comprising both an adhesive portion and a non-adhesive portion. The adhesive portion of the label may be transparent so as not to occlude any pre-existing information on a manufacturer-supplied package once applied to the manufacturer's package. The non-adhesive portion of the label may contain bar-coded information, as well as human readable text, and may protrude from the product for the purposes of applying the bar-coded information to a previously non-bar-coded product. The label may be flexible, thus allowing the folding or rolling of the non-adhesive portion for the purposes of decreasing the storage space required for the manufacturer product that has had the new label attached and allowing the adhesive portion to conform to the product to which it is attached. Because of the rules governing abstracts, this abstract should not be used to construe the claims.

Inventory Management System Using Rfid Tags To Aid In Dispensing And Restocking Inventory

US Patent:
2007002, Feb 1, 2007
Filed:
Jun 9, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/423326
Inventors:
Richard Miller - Pittsburgh PA, US
Manoj Wangu - Wexford PA, US
Bruce Thompson - Pittsburgh PA, US
Patrick Braun - Pittsburgh PA, US
Russell Gadagno - Harrison City PA, US

International Classification:
G06Q 30/00
US Classification:
235385000
Abstract:
An inventory management system is provided that utilizes radio frequency identification (RFID) technology to drive RFID tags to provide a notification signal, such as by illuminating light emitting diodes (LEDs) embodied by the RFID tags. The RFID tags may be placed on medication bins within a pharmacy pick-station in order to indicate which medication to select for processing an order or in which medication bin to place a particular medication being restocked. A method and computer program product for managing inventory, as well as an automated dispensing cabinet are further provided.
