Seismically Restrained Vibration Isolating Mounting Device

US Patent:
2004003, Feb 26, 2004
Filed:
Aug 14, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/218536
Inventors:
Paul Meisel - Dublin OH, US
Richard Sherren - Pataskala OH, US
International Classification:
F16M013/00
US Classification:
248/638000, 248/624000
Abstract:
A seismically restrained vibration isolating mounting device seismically restrains and vibrationally isolates equipment which is supported by an equipment support means, from the equipment supporting surface. This seismically restrained vibration isolating mounting device is comprised of a three-axis snubber mounted to the equipment supporting surface and which restrains the equipment support means; and a vibration isolator, wherein the equipment support means is supported by the vibration isolator and wherein the vibration isolator is supported by the equipment supporting surface, wherein the vibration isolator acts in the direction of gravity, and wherein the three axis-snubber is closer to the equipment supporting surface than the vibration isolator, and the vibration isolator is external to the three-axis snubber.

Vibration Isolation Mounting Clip

US Patent:
8549809, Oct 8, 2013
Filed:
Apr 7, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/419293
Inventors:
Matthew V. Golden - Columbus OH, US
Gregory A. Hively - Grove City OH, US
Paul W. Meisel - Dublin OH, US
Richard S. Sherren - Pataskala OH, US
Matthew S. Swysgood - Sunbury OH, US
Assignee:
Kinetics Noise Control, Inc. - Dublin OH
International Classification:
E04B 9/00
US Classification:
5250606, 521671, 5250605, 52702
Abstract:
A vibration isolating mounting clip which is used to mount a furring channel to a mounting surface, which is then further loaded with a finishing substrate via the furring channel consists of a resilient bent metal strip. The resilient bent metal strip has a first end and an opposing second end, and a transition portion shaped to fit the furring channel. Through different aspects of the invention either the first end, or the first and second end is mounted to the mounting surface. The resilient bent metal strip has a stiffness and shape such that when the furring channel is positioned in the resilient bent metal strip, and the resilient bent metal strip is mounted to the mounting surface, and a finishing substrate is loaded on the furring channel, the furring channel does not contact the mounting surface. Between the ends of the resilient bent metal strip, and the furring channel, are one to several bends, towards and away from the mounting surface to achieve the desired resiliency.

Modular Seismically Restrained Distribution System And Method Of Installing The Same

US Patent:
8347585, Jan 8, 2013
Filed:
Aug 19, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/859758
Inventors:
Paul Meisel - Dublin OH, US
Richard Sherren - Pataskala OH, US
Gregory Hively - Grove City OH, US
Angela Waters - Grove City OH, US
Assignee:
Kinetics Noise Control, Inc. - Dublin OH
International Classification:
E04B 1/00, E04B 1/98, E04H 9/02
US Classification:
5274505, 521671, 521672, 521673, 521674
Abstract:
A method of installing distribution systems such as needed piping, ductwork, electrical wiring, and other systems in a new construction having a structural ceiling and floor, comprises the steps of: providing a frame module of main and cross frame members; assembling the modules on site directly below the final placement position; installing ductwork, piping, electrical wiring, and other distribution systems in the modules; fabricating and attaching upper wall portions to the modules; lifting modules with attached upper wall portions towards the structural ceiling; attaching support columns to the structural ceiling and floor; and mounting the modules onto the support columns, such that the support columns support the modules.
