Abstract:
Polymeric building materials are provided which include a composite reinforcement comprising continuous filaments of fibers substantially oriented in at least a first direction within a polymeric matrix. The composite reinforcement includes a higher tensile strength and a lower rigidity than aluminum. The building material further includes a capstock polymeric material disposed substantially over the composite reinforcement. The building material is resistant to heat deformation and corrosion. This invention also includes methods for constructing such polymeric composite building materials, including in the preferred embodiments, pultrusion and extrusion steps.

The present invention relates to a consolidated form of the commingled continuous filaments of glass fibers and polymeric fibers as reinforcement. The consolidation of the commingled fibers into composite reinforcement can be used in a continuous form or bulk molding compound pellets. The consolidation of the commingled fibers into composite reinforcement can be made in-situ during in-line extrusion of the final end product extrudate, or prepared as a tape or rod and incorporated into an off-line extrusion of final product. The bulk molding pellets are used solely or diluted with an addition of polymeric material for mono or co-extrusion or compression molding.

The insulation product is configured to be inserted into standard-size spaces between adjacent wall studs to which a spray-on foam insulation has been applied. Abstract:
Baffled attic vents and methods of their use and manufacture are provided. The baffled air vent of this invention includes an elongated member having a roof facing side and an attic space facing side, a pair of longitudinal side portions, first and second transverse ends, and at least one central panel portion. The vent defines at least one channel on the roof facing side thereof, for directing ventilated air. The channel includes a bottom portion having an integral baffled surface thereon. The vent further has an installed, convective air flow reading, under a 5 Pa air pressure differential, of at least about 95 CFM. Further embodiments contain separation means for permitting the attic vent to be separated by hand in a transverse or longitudinal direction.
