Biomagnetometer Having Flexible Sensor

Biomagnetometer Having Flexible Sensor

US Patent:
5442289, Aug 15, 1995
Filed:
Oct 27, 1992
Appl. No.:
7/967217
Inventors:
Mark S. DiIorio - Del Mar CA
Eugene C. Hirschkoff - Leucadia CA
Richard T. Johnson - San Diego CA
D. Scott Buchanan - Escondido CA
Stephen O. James - San Diego CA
Douglas Paulson - Del Mar CA
William C. Black - Del Mar CA
Assignee:
Biomagnetic Technologies, Inc. - San Diego CA
International Classification:
G01R 33035, A61B 505, H01F 606
US Classification:
324248
Abstract:
A biomagnetometer includes a magnetic field sensor unit having a magnetic field pickup coil. A vessel contains the sensor unit. The vessel includes a flexible contact face with the magnetic field sensor unit mounted in the interior of the vessel adjacent to the flexible contact face. Insulation at the flexible contact face of the vessel prevents excessive heat flow through the flexible contact face. Pickup units using this structure can be connected together into flexible or rigid arrays. In operation, the pickup coil is cooled to a temperature of less than its superconducting transition temperature. A detector measures the magnitude of magnetic fields sensed by the sensor unit.

Container Illumination

Container Illumination

US Patent:
2005002, Feb 3, 2005
Filed:
Jul 14, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/891698
Inventors:
Richard Johnson - San Diego CA, US
International Classification:
F21V033/00
US Classification:
362154000
Abstract:
A container illumination assembly for use with a standard includes a selectively actuatable light source. A connection mechanism is adapted and constructed to secure the light source to the standard container. With the light source secured to the standard container with the connection mechanism, the contents of the standard container are selectively illuminated by the light source when the light source is actuated.

Compact Superconducting Magnetometer Having No Vacuum Insulation

Compact Superconducting Magnetometer Having No Vacuum Insulation

US Patent:
5506200, Apr 9, 1996
Filed:
Feb 6, 1992
Appl. No.:
7/831905
Inventors:
Eugene C. Hirschkoff - Leucadia CA
Mark S. DiIorio - San Diego CA
Richard T. Johnson - San Diego CA
D. Scott Buchanan - Escondido CA
Assignee:
Biomagnetic Technologies, Inc. - San Diego CA
International Classification:
G01R 33035
US Classification:
505162
Abstract:
A magnetometer comprises a magnetic field pickup coil and a magnetic field detector that receives electrical signals from the pickup coil and produces an electrical detector output responsive thereto. The pickup coil and detector, which are preferably made of high temperature superconductors, are enclosed in an insulated enclosure having no vacuum insulation structure. Preferably, the enclosure is made of a foamed polymer material such as styrofoam. A coolant is provided to the interior of the enclosure, to cool the pickup coil and detector to a temperature below their superconducting transition temperature. A number of such modular magnetometers may be connected together to form an array.
