Abstract:
The hood of a work vehicle is pivotally mounted to the supporting structure adjacent to a mast. The mast extends vertically upward form the supporting structure of the work vehicle. A work implement is operatively coupled to the mast. The mast is provided with left and right mast side walls. The interior of each of the side walls is provided with a guide and seal having a V-shaped cross section. The hood is provided with left and right side walls having left and right rear edges. The left and right rear edges are offset inwardly from the hood side walls. When the hood is closed, the left and right rear edges engage the left and right guides, wedging the edges into the V-shaped cross section. The base of each guide is provided with a tapered block. The tapered blocks are designed to engage a Z-bracket.

Abstract:
A backhoe loader includes a tractor-type vehicle with an operator station enclosed in a cab. Access to the cab is provided through a pair of front doors that are respectively disposed on opposite sides of the tractor hood, the upper portion of the doors also forming the front windshield of the cab. The major portion of the doors is formed by curved window glass, and each door includes a rigid metal frame that substantially conforms to the door opening. The door is made by placing the metal frame in a mold and encapsulating the frame in a polyurethane material that is molded around the metal frame by a reaction injection molding process. The door hinges and the latching mechanism are attached to the metal frame, while the molded polyurethane supports the window glass.

Abstract:
The front of a hood for a work vehicle is pivotally mounted to the front of the supporting structure. The rear of the hood is located adjacent to a mast. The mast extends vertically upward from the supporting structure of the work vehicle. A work implement having lift arms is operatively coupled to the mast and extends forwardly therefrom about the hood. The work implement has a raised position and a lowered position. The hood has a closed position enclosing the internal combustion engine, an intermediate open position making a portion of the internal combustion engine accessible and a fully opened position wherein the internal combustion engine is more fully accessible. The hood can be opened into its intermediate opened position when the work implement is in its lowered position. The hood can be moved to its fully opened position when the work implement is in its raised position. Those parts of the engine that are more regularly serviced are located so that they can be accessed when the hood is in its intermediate opened position.

Abstract:
An access door forms part of an enclosure and is releasably held in a closed position by means of a latch mechanism including a lock member formed of a spring metal strap bent to include a clip or hairpin portion having deflectable legs disposed in cooperating holding relationship to a catch member carried by the door when the latter is closed. The lock member also includes a deflectable mounting portion to which is connected a latch release lever for selectively deflecting the latter to disengage the deflectable legs thereof from the catch member to thereby release the door for movement to an open position.

Abstract:
A hood for an off road work vehicle includes a thermoformed polymer outer top panel having a smooth outer surface, a thermoformed inner panel, the inner panel having laterally extending corrugations, and a pattern of adhesive arranged between the inner and outer top panels. The inner and outer top panels are secured together by the pattern of adhesive, the pattern of adhesive comprising non-linear longitudinally extending regions spaced apart and straddling a longitudinal centerline of the inner top panel. The non-linear regions can be undulating or zigzag regions.
