System And Method For Routing Calls Associated With Private Dialing Plans

US Patent:
8582560, Nov 12, 2013
Filed:
Jan 30, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/362923
Inventors:
Rich Terpstra - Superior CO, US
Richard Moore - Superior CO, US
Assignee:
Level 3 Communications, LLC - Broomfield CO
International Classification:
H04L 12/66
US Classification:
370352
Abstract:
A method for routing a call associated with a private dialing plan includes receiving a call directed to a destination endpoint associated with a private dialing plan (PDP), receiving an internal egress path identifier associated with the destination endpoint, and routing the call to an egress path identified by the egress path identifier. A system for routing a call including a destination number associated with a PDP including a routing engine operable to route the call to a PDP call resolution server, and a first switch operable to receive an egress path identifier and a PDP telephone number from the PDP call resolution server, the egress path identifier identifying an egress path for routing the call to a destination endpoint associated with the destination number, and the PDP telephone number identifying a selected PDP destination endpoint and a second switch operable to receive the call based on the egress path identifier and route the call to the selected PDP destination endpoint using the PDP telephone number.

Functionalities For Local Number Portability In A Telecommunications Network

US Patent:
2008013, Jun 5, 2008
Filed:
Oct 30, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/929423
Inventors:
Gregory K. Brown - Broomfield CO, US
James Carlson - Boulder CO, US
Maria Farnon - Denver CO, US
Greg A. Land - Arvada CO, US
Bill Long - Louisville CO, US
Troy D. Lynette - Broomfield CO, US
Richard D. Moore - Broomfield CO, US
Assignee:
Level 3 Communications LLC - Broomfield CO
International Classification:
H04M 7/00
US Classification:
37922113
Abstract:
According to various embodiments of the present invention, systems and methods for local number portability in a telecommunication network are disclosed. An embodiment of a method includes requesting a real-time (RT) customer service record (CSR) request for a telephone number (TN) associated with a local number portability (LNP) order, the requesting occurring prior to a second CSR request that occurs as part of a submit process for the LNP order; receiving, in response to the request for the RT CSR request, a RT CSR response from a telecommunications carrier that the TN is to be transferred from as part of the LNP order; and validating data in the RT CSR response in order to prevent rejections of the data in the second CSR during the LNP process. Other embodiments are also disclosed.

US Classification:
37922113, 37920112, 37922001, 379274, 379 2702
Abstract:
According to various embodiments of the present invention, systems and methods for local number portability in a telecommunication network are disclosed. An embodiment of a method includes receiving a telephone number (TN) to test for its porting activity as part of a local number portability (LNP) order, accessing a LNP call tester (LCT) to determine a current local routing number (LRN) for the TN, and determining, based on the TN and current LRN, whether the porting activity is completed for the TN in relation to a core telecommunications carrier servicing an owner of the TN. The porting activity may include at least one of port in, port out, and migration of the TN. In one embodiment, the planned porting activity for the TN associated with the LNP order is known prior to determining whether the porting activity has been completed. Other embodiments are also disclosed.

Automatic Termination Path Configuration

US Patent:
2010007, Mar 25, 2010
Filed:
Aug 31, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/551533
Inventors:
Michael F. DeConcilis - Bloomingdale IL, US
Richard Moore - Broomfield CO, US
Assignee:
LEVEL 3 COMMUNICATIONS, LLC - Tulsa OK
International Classification:

US Classification:
370352, 37922106, 37922107, 370401
Abstract:
There is provided herein a system and method for automatic configuration of data routings for use with electronic data such as phone calls, faxes, etc. In an exemplary embodiment, when more than one carrier might potentially terminate the transmission, the carriers are ordered based on some screening criterion (e.g., transmission price). Data transmissions are then assigned to the carriers based on the sorting order, with the second place and lower carriers (e.g., the higher priced carriers) not being selected unless the first carrier cannot complete the transaction. The switch instructions necessary to implement this scheme may be generated automatically.
