Philosophy:
As a recipient of the 2008 and 2009 patient choice award, Dr. Metz is best known for caring deeply for the welfare of each individual patient. While patients often feel rushed and not listened to by other physicians, Dr. Metz is known for spending extra time and listening attentively to all his patients concerns. Dr. Metz spends time educating his patients and answering their questions. He does so in a very caring and compassionate way. He presents both the risks and benefits of different treatment alternatives and helps patients and their families decide on the right treatment option for them. He coordinates care by referring patients to a wide range of the best qualified medical specialists in this geographic area and then follows up to make sure his patients have been seen and treatment has started. As a past hospital chief of staff, Dr. Metz is an expert at helping his patients through difficult hospitalizations.
Dr. Metz is widely known for his astute diagnostic skills. Through his outstanding fund of knowledge, he continues to teach medical students, interns, and residents through UCLA as an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine.
