Ocular inserts with or without pharmacologically active agents comprising low molecular weight polymers have a lower propensity to cause blurred vision compared with inserts prepared from high molecular weight hydroxypropyl cellulose. Solid unit dosage medicaments which are suitable for use in animals and humans are prepared with hydroxypropyl cellulose as the primary formulating excipient.
