Integrated Hydrotreating Steam Cracking Process For The Production Of Olefins

US Patent:
6190533, Feb 20, 2001
Filed:
May 8, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/848438
Inventors:
Carl W. Bradow - Pearland TX
Dane Clark Grenoble - Nassau Bay TX
Stanley N. Milam - Houston TX
Bruce H. C. Winquist - Houston TX
Brendan D. Murray - Houston TX
Richard M. Foley - Houston TX
Assignee:
Exxon Chemical Patents Inc. - Houston TX
International Classification:
C10G 6906, C07C 404
US Classification:
208 57
Abstract:
An integrated process for converting a hydrocarbon feedstock having components boiling above about 100. degree. C. into steam cracked products is described. The process first involves passing the feedstock to a hydrotreating zone at a pressure in the range of from about 400 psig to about 1,250 psig to effect substantially complete decomposition of organic sulfur and/or nitrogen compounds. The product from the hydrotreating zone is passed to a steam cracking zone. Hydrogen and C. sub. 1 -C. sub. 4 hydrocarbons, steam cracked naphtha, steam cracked gas oil and steam cracked tar are recovered, where the amount of steam cracked tar produced is reduced by at least about 15 percent, basis the starting hydrocarbon feedstock which has not been subject to hydrotreating.

The process first involves passing the feedstock to a hydrotreating zone to effect substantially complete decomposition of organic sulfur and/or nitrogen compounds. The product from the hydrotreating zone is passed to an aromatics saturation zone. The product is then passed to a steam cracking zone. Hydrogen and C. sub. 1 -C. sub. 4 hydrocarbons, steam cracked naphtha, steam cracked gas oils and steam cracked tar are recovered. The amount of steam cracked tar produced is reduced by at least about 30 percent, and the amount of steam cracked tar produced is reduced by at least about 40 percent, basis the starting hydrocarbon feedstock which has not been subject to hydrotreating and aromatics saturation.

Benzene Removal From Fcc Naphtha

US Patent:
7501549, Mar 10, 2009
Filed:
Oct 6, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/544172
Inventors:
Gary G. Podrebarac - Houston TX, US
Richard Foley - Houston TX, US
Assignee:
Catalytic Distillation Technologies - Pasadena TX
International Classification:
C07C 7/04, C10G 45/02
US Classification:
585804, 585809, 585810, 208211, 208212, 208213
Abstract:
An integrated process for the isolation of benzene contained within a fluid catalytically cracked naphtha is disclosed wherein a Cfraction containing a benzene concentrate is subjected to etherification with alcohol (e. g. methanol and/or ethanol) to convert the Cisoolefins to ethers which are separated by fractional distillation. If desired the ethers may be dissociated to the isoolefins and alcohol. The remaining material in the benzene concentrate may then be treated to remove olefins and organic sulfur compounds so that the benzene may be removed by solvent extraction. Alternatively the benzene in the remaining material may be subjected to hydrogenation.

C5/C6 Isomerization Process

US Patent:
5059741, Oct 22, 1991
Filed:
Jan 29, 1991
Appl. No.:
7/647078
Inventors:
Richard M. Foley - Houston TX
Assignee:
Shell Oil Company - Houston TX
International Classification:
C07C 513
US Classification:
585734
Abstract:
An integrated process for the production of a refinery gasoline pool with enhanced octane value from a pentane and hexane containing feedstock by first contacting with an isomerization catalyst; fractionating the resulting product into an iC. sub. 5 product stream forming part of said refinery gasoline pool and a bottom stream containing nC. sub. 5, nC. sub. 6, mono-branched C. sub. 6 and dibranched C. sub. 6 ; passing said bottom stream through an adsorption bed with dibranched C. sub. 6 passing thru unabsorbed; desorbing nC. sub. 5, nC. sub. 6 and monobranched C. sub. 6 from the absorption bed; and recycling the desorbed nC. sub. 5, nC. sub. 6 and monobranched C. sub. 6 to the isomerization zone.
