Radiator Valved Closure

Radiator Valved Closure

US Patent:
4147273, Apr 3, 1979
Filed:
May 1, 1978
Appl. No.:
5/901474
Inventors:
Joseph J. Malacheski - Plains PA
Richard J. Zenda - Plains PA
International Classification:
B65D 5116
US Classification:
220204
Abstract:
The specification discloses a valved closure for a heat exchanger, such as the radiator of a liquid cooled vehicle engine, such radiators usually having an upper liquid chamber with an upstanding, flanged filling neck. The valved closure includes an annular adaptor on the upper end of the filling neck and having a valve seat, upstanding guide bearings on opposite sides of the adaptor, a valve element having a spherically curved portion in sealing engagement with the seat and having a through passageway generally chordally of the spherical portion and rotatable to shift the passageway into communication with the neck, aligned shafts extending from the valve element for rotation in respective guide bearings with the valve element when the latter changes position, and resilient tension means connected between the shafts and adaptor to urge the valve element into its seat sealing relation.

Line Tightening Device

Line Tightening Device

US Patent:
8544784, Oct 1, 2013
Filed:
Oct 6, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/267399
Inventors:
Richard J. Zenda - Plains PA, US
Assignee:
Cargazen, Inc. - Wilkes-Barre PA
International Classification:
B65H 75/38
US Classification:
2423881, 2423882, 2423885
Abstract:
A line tightening device with a detachable handle, a hook and a coupler for securing the handle and the hook together while the tightener is being used. After the line tightener is used to achieve the desired tension in the line tightened, the handle and coupler can be quickly and easily disengaged and removed from the hook, thereby leaving only the hook attached to the tightened line. The hook is adapted for tightening the line by forming and fixing convolutions about its shank. A tether secures the hook to adjacent portions of the line to prevent accidental separation of the hook from the tensioned line.
