Abstract:
A player tracking system and method for tracking the customer activity of a plurality of customers at one or more casino establishments. The system includes an account manager device having a first customer account associated with a first customer and a second customer account associated with a second customer, in which the second customer is sponsored by the first customer. Each customer account includes an associated customer Identification (ID) and a respective accumulated point total. A monitoring device is configured to monitor the betting activity of the plurality of customers at the one or more casino establishments, and a point accumulation device is adapted to accrue primary betting activity points for the customer accounts, based upon their monitored betting activity. The point accumulation device is further adapted to accrue sponsorship points for sponsors of new accounts which may also be applied toward the accumulated point total. Thus, multi-level point accumulation is provided to encourage further patronage.

An apparatus, comprising: a gaming apparatus which comprises: a housing; a display unit; a value input device; a card reader comprising a light generating source, and a data reading apparatus; a controller operatively coupled to the display unit, the value input device, and the card reader, the controller comprising a processor and a memory operatively coupled to the processor, the controller being programmed to allow a person to make a wager, the controller being programmed to cause a video image to be generated on the display unit, the video image representing a game selected from the group of games consisting of video poker, video blackjack, video slots, video keno and video bingo, the video image comprising an image of at least five playing cards if the game comprises video poker, the video image comprising an image of a plurality of simulated slot machine reels if the game comprises video slots, the video image comprising an image of a plurality of playing cards if the game comprises video blackjack, the video image comprising an image of a plurality of keno numbers if the game comprises video keno, the video image comprising an image of a bingo grid if the game comprises video bingo, the controller being programmed to determine an outcome of the game represented by the video image and a value payout associated with the outcome of the game; and a player tracking card disposed in the card reader and comprising: a data storage device; a plurality of card surfaces; and a light transmissive body portion.

Abstract:
A disclosed thin light-emitting interface displays may be mounted to a surface on the gaming machine. The light-emitting elements used in the interface displays may be provided from electro-luminescent elements, organic light emitting diode (OLED) elements and combinations thereof. The thin light-emitting interface displays may be used to input and output gaming information on the gaming machine. The gaming information that is input and output via the interface display may be used to provide: 1) a game of chance played on the gaming machine, 2) player tracking services, 3) game services available on the gaming machine and 4) attract features. In one embodiment, a game input interface display is provided with a plurality of input buttons where a number and a format of the input buttons are dynamically configurable for different types of games of chance played on the gaming machine.

A handheld maintenance module may be provided with a display unit capable of generating video images, a wireless transceiver device capable of wireless dats transmission and reception and adapted to be wirelessly coupled to a maintenance controller, and a module controller coupled to the display unit and the wireless data transceiver device. the module controller may be programmed to allow a person to receive a gaming unit maintenance work order that represents a request for a repair of a gaming unit, to cause a video image representing the gaming unit maintenance work order to be displayed on the display unit, to cause a video image of one or more instructions to repair the gaming unit to be displayed, to allow the gaming unit maintenance work order to be closed upon completion of the repair of the gaming unit, and to forward repair data to the maintenance controller.
