Soft Message Signing

US Patent:
2012029, Nov 15, 2012
Filed:
May 9, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/103451
Inventors:
William Henry Bares - San Jose CA, US
Srinivas Devadas - Lexington MA, US
Vivek Khandelwal - Santa Clara CA, US
Zdenek Paral - San Jose CA, US
Richard Sowell - San Jose CA, US
Tonghang Zhou - Sunnyvale CA, US
Assignee:
Verayo, Inc. - San Jose CA
International Classification:
H04L 9/32
US Classification:
713170
Abstract:
A message is signed using a PUF without having to exactly regenerate a cryptographic key. Another party that shares information about the PUF is able to verify the signature to a high degree of accuracy (i.e., high probability of rejection of a forged signature and a low probably of false rejection of a true signature). In some examples, the information shared by a recipient of a message signature includes a parametric model of operational characteristics of the PUF used to form the signature.

Non-Aligned Dram State Machine For Page-Mode Dram Control

US Patent:
5210856, May 11, 1993
Filed:
Aug 7, 1991
Appl. No.:
7/741778
Inventors:
Stuart Auvinen - Santa Cruz CA
Richard Sowell - San Jose CA
Assignee:
Chips and Technologies, Inc. - San Jose CA
International Classification:
G06F 104
US Classification:
395550
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for operating a system component in a microprocessor system. The component is operated by a component controller which runs off a clock having a frequency different than the system clock. The controller is synchronized with the system clock at the conclusion of a component access cycle. The state machine of the controller can thus operate independently of the system clock and timing options implemented by the controller need not have an even number of states.

Fifo For Coupling Asynchronous Channels

US Patent:
5305319, Apr 19, 1994
Filed:
Mar 9, 1993
Appl. No.:
8/028648
Inventors:
Richard Sowell - San Jose CA
Assignee:
Chips and Technologies, Inc. - San Jose CA
International Classification:
H04J 302
US Classification:
370 8513
Abstract:
An efficient and optimized FIFO memory for use in a bus master system utilizes a multiplexing clock from which control signal defining bus cycles on asynchronous system and local buses. The FIFO facilitates interleaved access by system and local buses to support high speed data transfers from devices on one bus to the other bus.

Finite Metastable Time Synchronizer

US Patent:
4820939, Apr 11, 1989
Filed:
Nov 24, 1987
Appl. No.:
7/124875
Inventors:
Richard G. Sowell - San Jose CA
Robert Pieters - Eldorado CA
Assignee:
National Semiconductor Corporation - Santa Clara CA
International Classification:
H03K 513, H03K 1900
US Classification:
307269
Abstract:
A synchronizer circuit having a predictable and finite metastable time, and thereby a finite sample interval, resulting in the minimization of the probability of errors in asynchronous information transfer.
