Electrostatic Image Developing Method And Apparatus Using A Drum Photoconductor And Hard Magnetic Carriers

Electrostatic Image Developing Method And Apparatus Using A Drum Photoconductor And Hard Magnetic Carriers

US Patent:
6571077, May 27, 2003
Filed:
May 16, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/859129
Inventors:
John R. Thompson - Webster NY
Timothy G. Armstrong - Rochester NY
Richard G. Allen - Irondequoit NY
Thomas Hilbert - Spencerport NY
Christopher S. Garcia - Rochester NY
Assignee:
Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG - Heidelberg
International Classification:
G03G 1509
US Classification:
399267, 399272, 399274, 399276, 430122
Abstract:
The invention relates generally to apparatus for electrostatic image development and, in particular, apparatus that implement a magnetic brush with a drum photoconductor. According to an aspect of the invention, a method and apparatus for developing an electrostatic image are provided implementing a drum photoconductor and a magnetic brush contacting the drum photoconductor. The magnetic brush includes a mixture of toner and hard magnetic carriers.

Method For Controlling The Formation Of Toner Images With Two Distinct Toners

Method For Controlling The Formation Of Toner Images With Two Distinct Toners

US Patent:
5723240, Mar 3, 1998
Filed:
May 29, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/654953
Inventors:
Richard G. Allen - Rochester NY
Assignee:
Eastman Kodak Company - Rochester NY
International Classification:
G03G 1300
US Classification:
430 54
Abstract:
The process control method for a DAD-CAD image forming method includes forming a DAD electrostatic image of a first polarity and applying toner of the first polarity to form a first toner image and then forming a CAD electrostatic image. To provide ample voltage for formation of the CAD image and to reduce scavenging, the development completion of the first electrostatic image is preferably kept below 0. 4, preferably by reducing pole transitions provided by a rotatable magnetic core in toning the first image. The process is further controlled by adjusting an initial charge on the image member which also can be trimmed after formation of the first image by a uniform light exposure and by adjustment of AC biases in both toning steps.

Preparing Color Toner Images With Metallic Effect

Preparing Color Toner Images With Metallic Effect

US Patent:
2013029, Nov 7, 2013
Filed:
Apr 30, 2013
Appl. No.:
13/873540
Inventors:
Dinesh Tyagi - Fairport NY, US
Kevin D. Lofftus - Fairport NY, US
Louise Granica - Victor NY, US
Richard George Allen - Rochester NY, US
International Classification:
G03G 13/20
US Classification:
428207, 4301201
Abstract:
A color toner image with a metallic effect can be prepared by forming one or more latent images and developing them with metallic dry toner particles and color toner particles. The developed color toner image can be transferred to a receiver material, and fixed to provide a color toner image with a metallic effect. The metallic dry toner particles have a polymeric binder phase and non-conductive metal oxide particles dispersed therein. Before fixing, the metallic dry toner particle has a mean volume weighted diameter (D) 15-40 μm and the non-conductive metal oxide particles are present in an amount of at least 20-50 weight % based on total metallic dry toner particle weight. The ratio of the metallic dry toner particle Dto the average equivalent circular diameter (ECD) of the non-conductive metal oxide particles in the metallic dry toner particles is greater than 0.1 and up to and including 10.

Combined Storage Of Data For Two Printheads

Combined Storage Of Data For Two Printheads

US Patent:
5812169, Sep 22, 1998
Filed:
May 14, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/645989
Inventors:
Hwai-Tzuu Tai - Rochester NY
Richard George Allen - Rochester NY
Assignee:
Eastman Kodak Company - Rochester NY
International Classification:
H04N 140
US Classification:
347110
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for processing image data representing plural colors for output to a color display device such as a printer or soft display. A block of digital image data signals is generated representing rasterized image data of at least two colors. The block of digital image data is compressed and stored in a compressed form. The compressed image data is then expanded losslessly and output to a color display device.

Fuser Oil Contamination Prevention And Clean-Up Method

Fuser Oil Contamination Prevention And Clean-Up Method

US Patent:
7068959, Jun 27, 2006
Filed:
Sep 20, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/945489
Inventors:
Richard G. Allen - Rochester NY, US
Thomas N. Tombs - Rochester NY, US
David M. Rakov - Rochester NY, US
Assignee:
Eastman Kodak Company - Rochester NY
International Classification:
G03G 21/00
US Classification:
399 98, 399326, 399343, 399303
Abstract:
Preventing the imaging forming process of an electrostatographic reproduction apparatus having a plurality of imaging modules in tandem relative to a receiver transport belt moveable along a transport path from becoming contaminated with fuser release oil. A substantially uniform layer of the pigmented marking particles from the development subsystem of the image forming process is deposited onto the photoconductive member of the image forming process during any non-imaging cycles of the process, including cycle down, non-imaging skip frames, or recovery from a receiver jam. The substantially uniform layer of pigmented marking particles acts as a barrier to block fuser release oil from the photoconductive member and as a vehicle to carry away contaminating fuser release oil.
