Bag Sealer

Bag Sealer

US Patent:
4082941, Apr 4, 1978
Filed:
Jul 13, 1976
Appl. No.:
5/704901
Inventors:
Daniel L. Sukow - Grafton WI
Richard A. Smith - Wauwatosa WI
James B. Cockroft - Wauwatosa WI
Assignee:
Oster Corporation - Milwaukee WI
International Classification:
H05B 100
US Classification:
219243
Abstract:
A bag sealer having an electrically heated wire and a pivotally mounted sealing member which is substantially parallel to and normally biased away from the wire. An integral transformer and solenoid are provided for reducing the voltage supplied to the wire and for bringing the sealing member into pressure bearing relationship with the wire. The primary winding of the transformer serves as the solenoid coil while the solenoid armature, upon being closed, completes the transformer. In order to facilitate activating the switch to energize the transformer winding, a lever extends out through the housing. Molded side pieces carry an extruded channel on which is mounted a resilient pressure bar.

Electromagnetic Switching Apparatus Having Dynamically Balanced Latch Trip

Electromagnetic Switching Apparatus Having Dynamically Balanced Latch Trip

US Patent:
4951021, Aug 21, 1990
Filed:
Oct 28, 1988
Appl. No.:
7/263844
Inventors:
Peter J. Theisen - West Bend WI
Richard G. Smith - Milwaukee WI
Mark A. Juds - New Berlin WI
Daniel A. Wycklendt - Milwaukee WI
Assignee:
Eaton Corporation - Cleveland OH
International Classification:
M01H 920
US Classification:
335167
Abstract:
A linear acting ball latch is released by a rotary latch release member in the form of a rotor for a high torque, short stroke rotary electric motor which is electrically energized through a capacitor discharge system to release the latched member for spring biased movement into engagement with a bridging contact, thereby forcing the contact open from stationary contacts. A clapper type armature drives the contacts between open and closed positions through tubes, one of which extends through the latch mechanism. The tubes have spring biased plungers connected with the movable contact member to provide a low gradient spring force to the contacts permitting separation by the latch tube assembly and providing contact pressure when the magnetic operator closes the contacts. A manually operable handle and reset cam are disposed over the rotary latch mechanism and have mechanical connection with the latch release rotor to provide for manual operation of the release and for manual resetting of the latch mechanism. The wearable parts and time dated parts are all housed in a powerhead module which is readily detached from a base module and electronics module.

Remote Control Residential Circuit Breaker

Remote Control Residential Circuit Breaker

US Patent:
5301083, Apr 5, 1994
Filed:
Sep 30, 1991
Appl. No.:
7/768029
Inventors:
William E. Grass - Milwaukee WI
Peter K. Moldovan - Cascade WI
Earl T. Piber - Oconomowoc WI
Robert J. Clarey - Brookfield WI
James R. Jaeschke - Waukesha WI
Robert A. Kihn - Menomonee Falls WI
Richard G. Smith - Milwaukee WI
Herbert R. Streich - Whitefish Bay WI
Assignee:
Eaton Corporation - Cleveland OH
International Classification:
H01H 7300
US Classification:
361 64
Abstract:
A remote control residential and commercial lighting and appliance branch circuit breaker provides both overload current protection and load management. Structure is provided enabling packaging in a three-quarter inch width case, including a first set of contacts in the case provided by a pair of separable overload breaker contacts, trip structure in the case for causing separation of the overload breaker contacts in response to overload currents therethrough, a second set of contacts in the case provided by a pair of switching relay contacts having open and closed conditions and electrically connected in series with the overload breaker contacts, and an actuator in the case energizable to mechanically actuate the switching relay contacts. Feedback circuitry is included providing status indication of the condition of the switching relay contacts. Structure is provided for reducing actuator and spring requirements and sizes.
