Integrated Reactor Missile Shield And Crane Assembly

US Patent:
2012002, Feb 2, 2012
Filed:
Jul 26, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/190511
Inventors:
Harish Kamath - San Ramon CA, US
Ravi Baliga - Danville CA, US
International Classification:
G21C 19/20, G21C 11/00
US Classification:
376263, 376294
Abstract:
An integrated reactor missile shield and crane assembly (IRMSCA) is disclosed and claimed. The IRMSCA replaces the existing concrete missile shields and reactor services crane. The IRMSCA is moveable such that the missile shield can be moved away from the reactor head, allowing the integral crane to lift the control rod drive mechanism components and other routine loads at the refueling cavity.

Modular Integrated Head Assembly

US Patent:
7567645, Jul 28, 2009
Filed:
May 22, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/438907
Inventors:
Ravi Baliga - Danville CA, US
Assignee:
Advent Engineering Services, Inc. - San Ramon CA
International Classification:
G21C 19/00
US Classification:
376263, 376260, 376261, 376287
Abstract:
A two-part integrated head assembly () is disclosed wherein the lower portion () attaches to, and is supported by, the reactor vessel closure head (), and the upper portion () is fluidly connected to the lower portion, but is supported externally from the reactor vessel closure head. In the disclosed embodiment, the upper portion includes transverse support beams () that engage containment walls (), for example steam generator walls, to support the upper portion. A duct () releasably connects a fan plenum () in the upper portion with an annular plenum in the lower portion, such that fans () can draw heated air from around the CEDMs (). In one embodiment, a chiller () is provided in the fan plenum to cool the air prior to expelling it in containment. A missile shield () is also provided in the upper portion.
