Jul 29, 1999
Appl. No.:
9/363506
Inventors:
Michael David Catanzaro - Baton Rouge LA
Murphy Martin Arcemont - Gonzales LA
Raleigh Lee Cox - Baton Rouge LA
Christopher Edward Cox - Denham Springs LA
Travis Lee LeJeune - Baton Rouge LA
Assignee:
Delta Environmental Products, Inc. - Denham Springs LA
International Classification:
C02F 320
US Classification:
2101954
Abstract:
A wastewater treatment system having a treatment chamber and a clarifier chamber, the treatment chamber having a floor, the clarifier chamber separated from the treatment chamber by a common partition, the clarifier chamber having a top portion and a bottom portion, the clarifier chamber having an opening into the treatment chamber near the bottom of the clarifier, where the common partition is inclined near the area of the clarifier opening, and clarifier chamber being designed so that when wastewater is positioned therein, some solids suspended in the wastewater in the clarifier chamber settle out and exit the clarifier opening, a current in the wastewater in the treatment chamber, where the current passes across the floor of said treatment chamber near the opening of the clarifier, the current being sufficient to substantially prevent a build up of solids on the treatment chamber floor beneath the clarifier opening where the current does not keep all solids within said treatment chamber suspended within the treatment chamber.

Growth Media Wastewater Treatment Reactor

US Patent:
2007018, Aug 9, 2007
Filed:
Apr 2, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/695154
Inventors:
Raleigh Cox - Baton Rouge LA, US
Christopher Cox - Denham Springs LA, US
Brenda Guy - Baton Rouge LA, US
Michael Catanzaro - Baton Rouge LA, US
Murphy Arcemont - Gonzales LA, US
Travis LeJeune - Baton Rouge LA, US
International Classification:
C02F 3/00
US Classification:
210615000
Abstract:
A reactor chamber for placement in a wastewater treatment system, where the reactor chamber has a chamber formed from a sidewall which forms an interior of the chamber. The sidewall has a top portion and a bottom portion and fixed channel growth media positioned in the interior of the chamber. The fixed channel growth media is positioned below the top of the sidewall, so that when positioned in a treatment system, most of the growth media is located below the water level in the treatment system. The top of the sidewall near the water level (when positioned in a treatment system) is substantially impermeable to wastewater. The reactor includes an air distribution manifold system having a series of air release sites positioned below the fixed channel growth media and adapted to release air which disperses upwardly through the fixed channel growth media. Influent is discharged into the treatment tank near the air discharge sites.

Inventors:
Monroe Wayne Guy - Baton Rouge LA
Christopher Edward Cox - Baton Rouge LA
Raleigh Lee Cox - Baton Rouge LA
Assignee:
Delta Environmental Products, Inc. - Denham Springs LA
International Classification:
C02F 302
US Classification:
2101953
Abstract:
An wastewater treatment system is provided. The system includes a cylindrical tank having a sidewall, a bottom, an upper portion and a lower portion. A cone-shaped hopper, open at both ends, is positioned in the tank. The hopper's upper opening is larger than the lower opening. The system includes a compressed air source connected to at least five radially spaced air outlet pipes, each air outlet pipe being fluidly connected to the compressed air source and extending downward into the lower portion of the tank and having an open end positioned above the bottom between the hopper and the sidewall of the tank so as to discharge air into an aeration zone between the hopper and the tank sidewall; an inlet line connected to the tank and having a discharge end opening into the tank between the hopper and the tank sides; and an outlet line having an inlet end positioned within the hopper in the upper portion of the tank and an outlet end exterior of the tank, whereby the wastewater within the tank is continuously aerated through the air outlet pipes with a sufficient volume of air and sufficiently large bubbles such that the wastewater is continuously agitated within the tank exterior of the hopper so as to eliminate any quiescent zones in the upper portion of the tank.

Biological Phosphorous Removal From Wastewater Using Multiple Recombinable Basins

US Patent:
4948510, Aug 14, 1990
Filed:
Oct 12, 1989
Appl. No.:
7/420562
Inventors:
Michael D. Todd - Baton Rouge LA
Raleigh L. Cox - Baton Rouge LA
Assignee:
United Industries, Inc. - Baton Rouge LA
International Classification:
C02F 330
US Classification:
210605
Abstract:
A process for treating wastewater to biologically remove phosphorous as well as lowering ammonia, TSS and BOD levels is provided. The process employs a plurality of basins which may be individually controlled to achieve anaerobic, anoxic or aerobic conditions. The basins are reconfigurable in that the flow of influent to a basin, transfer of mixed liquor between basins and effluent discharge from a basin can be varied to create a treatment cycle which has features of both continuous and batch processes while minimizing recycle rates and hydraulic level changes.
