Philosophy:
Rafael J. Cortina is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of California. As a bilingual therapist he has worked in Mexico and the United States. He has over 11 years of experience working with individuals, couples, families and groups. He has a Masters in Business Administration with an Emphasis in Marketing, a Masters of Arts in Counseling Psychology from National University in San Diego, and is a Certified Gestalt Therapist.
He has experience working with Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender issues, HIV/AIDS Counseling, Grief and Loss issues, Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Eating Disorders, Dual Diagnosis, Trauma work, Dream work, Couples therapy and Gestalt oriented psychotherapy. He is currently employed as an MFT at Sharp Mesa Vista Outpatient Dual Diagnosis Program, and a faculty member at the University of Phoenix San Diego Campus.
He is a former Lead Faculty member at the Humanistic Institute of Gestalt Psychotherapy in Tijuana, Mexico.
