Floating Dry Dock With Buoyancy Controlled Air Injection And Venting System

US Patent:
3976022, Aug 24, 1976
Filed:
Feb 3, 1975
Appl. No.:
5/546790
Inventors:
Pierre A. Lapeyre - Houma LA
International Classification:
B63C 102
US Classification:
114 45
Abstract:
The present disclosure is directed to lifting boats and barges within a dry dock by means of compressed air. The air is conducted from compressor through hose lines to open bottomed compartments of the floating dry dock and controlled by remote actuated valves whereby either through adding air or venting air from the dock compartments the dock may be trimmed fore and aft as well as athwart ship to assure registry with a yard marine railway system. Support legs guide the up and down movement of the dock to assure alignment with the marine railway so that the vessel within the dock may be transferred by a dolly and rail system to the yard rail system. The floating dry dock upon achieving proper elevation releases a certain amount of air such that some negative buoyancy is attained and the dry dock and its within vessel are supported on the support legs which will prevent movement of the dry dock while transferring the vessel to shore and which will also prevent movement of the dry dock by wave action from passing vessels.

Exercise Monitor System And Method

US Patent:
4278095, Jul 14, 1981
Filed:
Jun 5, 1979
Appl. No.:
6/045627
Inventors:
Pierre A. Lapeyre - Houma LA
International Classification:
A61B 504
US Classification:
128689
Abstract:
The invention encourages optimal exercise, particularly of the aerobic type, for cardiovascular fitness. The user powers an exerciser, such as a treadmill, simulated cycling or rowing, and the like, and a monitor displays the users speed and distance accomplished. A variable speed outdoor exercising scene (such as a person rowing a boat) is shown to the user when the monitor is a TV set. The users speed signal controls the speed of a videotape cassette player to proportionately change the speed of the outdoor exercising scene. The speed signal is converted to the reciprocal of speed i. e. , minutes per mile and the distance is displayed to hundredths of miles. The latter two signals are converted to BCD digits and superimposed on the video through a TV positioning and generation circuit for display on the scene. The heart beat is picked up electrically or by infra red and converted into three digits of beats per minute, and also superimposed on the video for display on the monitor. In addition, the users pulse rate or heart beat is displayed.

Water Transportable Pump Station

US Patent:
3957006, May 18, 1976
Filed:
May 10, 1974
Appl. No.:
5/468646
Inventors:
Pierre A. Lapeyre - Houma LA
International Classification:
B63B 3500
US Classification:
114 5R
Abstract:
The present disclosure is directed to transportable pumping station which is erected on a barge which may be transported on water to a site and the barge flooded to the river or water bottom so that pump intakes are supplied with intake water free of debris by screening the water to be pumped. If it is desired to relocate the pumping station wall covers are applied to the water intakes in the barge end walls and the barge is pumped dry and towed to the relocation site by tug boat and flooded down at the new site.
