Won first place award for excellence in medical research at the faculty of medicine as a Masters of Medical Science student for my basic science research developing human tumour cell line somatic cell line hybrids for the investigation of CEA tumour associated antigen. My preceptor was Dr Christopher Ford, PhD in the Cancer research dept of the university.

Won first place for excellence in medical research as a medical undergraduate student at the medical school undergraduate program for my basic science research work I did while at the Banting and Best Cancer cytogenetics dept under the preceptorship of Dr Ian Dube. The premise of that work involved developing T cell leukemia t(10:14) hybrid cell lines with somatic cell mouse cell lines for the purpose of developing a continuous source of the translocation t(10:14) genetic mutation for DNA mapping purposes.
