Apparatus and methods facilitating isolation of a pipe segment for repair thereof include releasable reclosable means for gripping the pipe exterior, a first conduit extending through the releasable gripping means transverse to the pipe when the releasable gripping means is about the pipe with an end of the first conduit terminating proximate the pipe exterior, sealing means sealing between the first conduit and the pipe exterior surface, a second conduit communicating with the first conduit remote from the end of the first conduit which is closest to the pipe exterior, cutting means insertable through the first conduit for cutting an aperture in the pipe wall with the cutting means having a passageway therewithin extending axially from the cutting end to a position along the cutting means lateral surface for withdrawal of fluid from the cutting point, an inflatable bladder insertable into the pipe interior via the first conduit and serving to block the interior of the pipe when inflated and valve means for selectably opening and closing the first conduit. The invention provides means for isolating the pipe segment needing repair with minimal loss of fluid from the pipe requiring repair during the repair procedure.

A tool for transferring torque from a driving member to a workpiece comprises a plurality of serially engaging gears wherein a first gear of said plurality includes means for mating engagement with the driving member for rotation of the first gear thereby and a last gear of the plurality includes means for engaging the workpiece for rotation thereof by the last gear. The gears are rotatably mounted in a support frame. The last gear may include an arcuate segment hingedly connected to the remainder of the last gear and rotatable about the hinge connection between open and closed positions. The arcuate segment in the closed position completes a circular periphery of the last gear and in the open position provides a passageway for movement of the workpiece into the last gear interior.

A vehicle distress signal includes a rigid banner which has attention attraction coatings or lights on the banner's surfaces. The signal is attached to a vehicle door or window at one end of the banner by a combination clamp and spacer. The clamp overfits the edge of a door of a vehicle and the spacer holds the banner away from the door in a plane perpendicular to the door, so that when the clamp is placed over the edge of a door and the door is closed, the distress signal is held firmly to the vehicle with the banner's attention attraction surfaces facing approaching traffic.
