Automated System For Verifying Electronic Election Results

US Patent:
2009006, Mar 12, 2009
Filed:
Sep 7, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/851463
Inventors:
Jeffrey Augustus Pine - Auburn NY, US
Mark William Macko - Camillus NY, US
Qing Gu - Manlius NY, US
Peter Earl Mott - Baldwinsville NY, US
Assignee:
JADAK, LLC - North Syracuse NY
International Classification:
G07C 13/00
US Classification:
235386
Abstract:
A reader for automatically reading electronic voting machine paper audit records containing voting information encoded into barcodes printed on the audit records. The reader includes an optical imager for capturing images of barcodes printed on the audit records and a sensor for triggering the capture of images at the appropriate time. The reader further includes a drive mechanism for automatically advancing the audit records and stopping the records at the appropriate location so that the barcodes containing the voting information may be decoded. The reader is programmed to decode and interpret the encoded voting information and then provide the information to a host device. Once receipt of the information by the host has been confirmed, the reader automatically advances the audit record and repeated the decoding process.

Multiple Platform Optical Imager Interface And Communication System

US Patent:
2010012, May 13, 2010
Filed:
Nov 11, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/268561
Inventors:
Peter E. Mott - Baldwinsville NY, US
Assignee:
JADAK LLC - North Syracuse NY
International Classification:
G06F 3/00, G06F 3/048
US Classification:
715810, 710 5
Abstract:
A software-based solution for managing and communicating with any number of optical imaging platforms regardless of the manufacturer or of any device specific protocols implemented by those platforms. A user interface allows selection of the function of an attached optical imaging platform that is desired by a user. The selected function is mapped to an abstracted functional layer that is then translated into the appropriate command string according to the protocol of the attached optical imaging platform. Depending on the platform that is installed, only available functions are presented in the graphical user interface. For example, a user may test the operation of the platform before installing the platform in a machine vision system, download new software to the platform to correct problems or enhance functionality after it has been installed, or obtain captured images from the platform to review the effectiveness of image processing techniques.

Electrosurgical Device Having Rfid And Optical Imaging Capabilities

US Patent:
7614554, Nov 10, 2009
Filed:
May 25, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/420350
Inventors:
Peter Earl Mott - Baldwinsville NY, US
David Miller - Brewerton NY, US
Wie Lee - Manlius NY, US
Brian Paul Ford - Cicero NY, US
Assignee:
JADAK Technologies, Inc. - Liverpool NY
International Classification:
G06K 7/14
US Classification:
235440, 235454
Abstract:
A medical device, such as an electrosurgical scalpel, having a base unit and one or more attachable implements for performing medical procedures. The device include a host controllable module for capturing images of the attachable implement, decoding information contained in the image, and reporting the results of the decoding to the medical device. The host controllable module includes a system microcontroller that interconnects an optical imager and/or an RFID transceiver through the single interface to the host medical device. As a result, the module may be easily retrofit into existing medical devices and programmed to perform operations on legacy instruments as well as additional functions not previously available to the medical device.

Antenna For Combined Rfid Optical Imager

US Patent:
7631809, Dec 15, 2009
Filed:
Jan 25, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/627047
Inventors:
Peter Earl Mott - Baldwinsville NY, US
Assignee:
JADAK, LLC - North Syracuse NY
International Classification:
G06K 7/00
US Classification:
235440, 235435
Abstract:
An antenna for use in connection with a combined RFID reader and optical imager. A printer circuit board having a wire loop positioned thereon and a hole formed therethrough is positioned in combination with an optical imager so that the imaging element of the optical imager may capture images through the hole. In addition, illuminating elements, such as LEDs may be provided on the printed circuit board to provide external or additional illumination of target objects. By positioning the antenna and optical imager in such a manner, the space required to implement optical imaging and RFID capabilities is improved and optical imaging and RFID interrogation may be more easily directed at a single object. In addition, extra illumination may be easily provided for improved imaging.
