First, a neck and/or back spinal screening by Dr. Spell will be conducted, including a motion palpation test to help diagnose the exact location of any loss of normal spinal movement. Motion palpation is a safe and painless testing procedure. Dr. Spell, standing behind you, uses one hand to move your spine through its ranges of motion. The other hand presses against each individual vertebra (bone of the spine). This allows him to locate the exact joint that is not moving and in which direction (flexion, extension, rotation, or lateral flexion) the joint has lost mobility. If a loss of spinal movement is not found, Dr. Spell will refer you to the appropriate health care professional that can best diagnose and treat your condition.
