Disposable Body Part Warmer And Method Of Use

US Patent:
6723115, Apr 20, 2004
Filed:
Sep 27, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/671387
Inventors:
Paul C. Daly - Abington MA
Assignee:
Respironics Novametrix, Inc. - Wallingford CT
International Classification:
A61F 700
US Classification:
607111, 607112, 607108, 607114
Abstract:
An apparatus for warming a portion of a human body, such as a foot of a neonatal infant, comprising an elongated, flexible pouch defining an internal chamber containing a selecting initiable heat generating material, the pouch including a first relatively longer segment and a second relatively shorter segment joined along a narrower neck region. The two segments are independently securable to, for example, the foot of an infant, the longer first segment being secured to the bottom of the foot and extending to the heel and the shorter segment extending upwardly from the heel. Independent securement may be effected by a strap secured to and extending transversely from each segment and having adhesive at a distal end thereof, one strap being wrapped over the instep of the infant to secure the larger segment and the other strap being wrapped forwardly about the ankle, the distal ends of both straps being adhered to their respect segments. A portion of each strap may be perforated to facilitate severance thereof and removal of the pouch from the patient after use.

Filed:
Jul 31, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/183139
Inventors:

Assignee:
RIC Investments, LLC - Wilmington DE
International Classification:
A47C 16/00
US Classification:

The support member has first and second ends, first and second sides having first and second opposing recesses, respectively, a top surface facing the infant, and a bottom surface. A first portion disposed at or about the first end, supports the infant's head or trunk. A second portion extends from the first portion and supports the other of the infant's head or trunk. The infant's head and trunk are, therefore, aligned and elevated with respect to at least a portion of the infant's arms and legs, in order that the infant's spine is substantially straight. The first and second recesses receive at least a portion of one of the infant's arms. A support system including at least one accessory for securing the infant in the prone position, is also disclosed.

Infant Mattress

Infant Mattress

US Patent:
2006016, Jul 27, 2006
Filed:
Jan 25, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/042271
Inventors:
Paul Daly - Abington MA, US
International Classification:
A47C 27/15
US Classification:
005740000, 005655900
Abstract:
An infant mattress for underlying an infant. The infant mattress is made of three layers of a foam material; an inner layer comprised of an open or closed cell foam material, preferably urethane, and two outer layers that sandwich the inner layer therebetween, comprised of a visco-elastic foam material, preferably urethane. An outer cover surrounds all three layers and is cleanable and anti-microbial. The inner layer is of a less resilient, or stiffer material than the outer layers that are comprised of a visco-elastic material and are slow to spring back upon being indented by the weight of the infant to evenly distribute the weight of the infant. The outer and inner foam layers are preferably secured together by a mechanical retaining means, one of which is a stripe of adhesive located only around the perimeter of the foam layers.
