Intervertebral Implant

US Patent:
6325827, Dec 4, 2001
Filed:
Apr 9, 1999
Appl. No.:
9/288651
Inventors:
Paul S. Lin - Lewisburg PA
Assignee:
BlackSheep Technologies, Inc. - Lewisburg PA
International Classification:
A61F 244
US Classification:
623 1716
Abstract:
An intervertebral implant has an elongated body that is narrower on each end than in the middle thereof. The body includes interconnected, parallel walls that include barbs positioned along the outer edges thereof. The barbs are typically inclined rearwardly thereby allowing easy insertion, yet preventing retropulsion or migration of the implant from the vertebral interspace. A distraction tool includes a distal end having a cross section that has two diagonally opposed rounded corners and two diagonally opposed square corners. An intervertebral implant instrumentation kit for surgically inserting an intervertebral implant into the interspace between adjacent vertebrae includes a distraction tool and the intervertebral implant.

Uniplate Cervical Device

US Patent:
2004023, Nov 25, 2004
Filed:
Mar 19, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/804743
Inventors:
Paul Lin - Lewisburg PA, US
International Classification:
A61B017/56
US Classification:
606/069000
Abstract:
A plate system used to maintain a generally fixed distance between vertebrae during the surgical repair of damaged vertebrae and/or the discs therebetween. The plate system is provided for use in conjunction with a cervical implant or alone. The system includes a plate which may be held in place with screws and nuts. The plate defines multiple apertures for the passage of the screws, one of which is a slot and as a result a single sized plate may be used for many different situations where the gap between adjacent vertebrae is varied. The plate also includes at least one cleat which provides and additional grip between the plate and vertebrae.
