Single-Use Leak/Spill Prevention Container Lid And Disposable Container

US Patent:
2010016, Jul 1, 2010
Filed:
Mar 8, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/719360
Inventors:
Marc A. Mucci - Canton OH, US
Paul R. Metcalfe - Solon OH, US
Scott E. Urban - Cleveland OH, US
Anil V. Singaraju - Brunswick OH, US
Mark A. Gamble - Bay Village OH, US
Assignee:
C2 CUPS LLC - UNIONTOWN OH
International Classification:
B65D 43/08, A47G 19/22
US Classification:
220796, 220713
Abstract:
There is described a disposable or single-use container lid which has an annular rim for frictionally engaging a rolled rim of a container, such as a paper cup, a central region and an annular shock-absorbing structure disposed between the annular rim and the central region. The annular shock-absorbing structure comprises an outside channel having a non-flat configuration and being formed around the central region, with the outside channel providing a predetermined amount of extension and contraction at the location of the channel to absorb forces or stress applied to the lid and/or container and facilitate retention of the lid on the container when forces from dropping, tipping, falling or squeezing are applied thereto. In a further example, there is also described a disposable anti-spill drinking lid for a disposable paper container. The lid comprises an annular engagement rim for frictionally engaging the rolled rim of the container, and an integral drinking spout extending from the top surface of the lid and positioned to allow drinking therethrough by tipping of the container toward a user. The lid may be formed of a plastic material having tensile strength and ductility characteristics such that the integral spout can deflect from its extended position and thereafter substantially returns to its original position. Further structures, such as an annular rim which facilitates frictionally engaging the rolled rim of the container may be provided.

Appl. No.:
12/042906
Inventors:
Martin R. Hoke - Lakewood OH, US
Paul R. Metcalfe - Solon OH, US
Assignee:
RhinoSystems Inc. - Lakewood OH
International Classification:
A61M 31/00, A61M 1/00, A61M 3/02, A61M 3/00, A61M 1/06, A61M 37/00, A61M 5/00
US Classification:
604 9401, 604 27, 604 30, 604 35, 604 39, 604 43, 604 73, 604131, 604257, 604258, 604275
Abstract:
Systems and methods for nasal irrigation are provided in which a nasal irrigation device includes a source of saline solution, an effluent receptacle, a nasal interface, a vacuum source, a fluid passageway to communicate the source of saline solution with the effluent receptacle through the nasal interface and a nasal cavity of the user, and a switch and valve assembly for selectively controlling the vacuum source and flow of the saline solution through the fluid passageway. The saline solution source is disposed relative to the device to provide gravitational inducement of saline solution to the nasal interface in engagement to the device user's nostrils. A combination of the gravitational inducement and the relative vacuum from the effluent receptacle generates a fluid flow for irrigating, cleansing and massaging the nasal cavity and ostia of a user. The entire device is assembled as a hand-held device for convenient lifting and disposal against the user's nostrils.

Water-Driven Dispensing Systems Employing Concentrated Product

US Patent:
2013027, Oct 17, 2013
Filed:
Apr 17, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/448666
Inventors:
Nick E. Ciavarella - Seven Hills OH, US
Paul R. Metcalfe - Solon OH, US
International Classification:
B67D 7/76
US Classification:
222190, 222173, 222372
Abstract:
A dispenser for dispensing a diluted form of a concentrated product includes: a supply of concentrated product; a dilution chamber; an actuation assembly and a product pump mechanism having a water staging chamber. The actuation assembly receives water under pressure from a pressurized water supply. In a staging state, water from the pressurized water supply is fed to the water staging chamber, increasing the volume thereof and causing the actuating of the pump mechanism thereby driving a dose of product into the dilution chamber. In a return state, (a) water within the water staging chamber exits the water staging chamber, (b) water is advanced to the dilution chamber and mixes with the dose of product to create diluted product, and (c) a dose of concentrated product is drawn from the supply of concentrated product into the product pump mechanism.
