Head Manipulable Binocular Microscope Support

US Patent:
2004011, Jun 17, 2004
Filed:
Dec 17, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/320385
Inventors:
Paul Piontkowski - Alexandria VA, US
International Classification:
A47F005/00
US Classification:
248/123110
Abstract:
A support for a medical instrument such as a binocular microscope including a plurality of piviotally connected arms connected to a wall, ceiling or vertical support mount. One of said arms being vertical and having ball joints at opposite ends, one connected to an adjacent arm and the other connected to the binocular microscope. An extension connected at one end to the binocular microscope and at an opposite end to a head harness for attaching to the head of an operator. Two of the arms are connected by a bearing having a vertical extension. One of the arms is pivotally connected to the vertical extension. A compressed gas cylinder is connected at one end to the vertical extension and at another end to the arm connected to the vertical extension. The arrangement is so that the operator can position the binocular microscope without use of any hands and with negligible resistance.

Surgical Microscope Support System

US Patent:
7420731, Sep 2, 2008
Filed:
Mar 23, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/088229
Inventors:
Paul K. Piontkowski - Alexandria VA, US
International Classification:

Stereo Microscope

US Patent:
7253949, Aug 7, 2007
Filed:
Aug 25, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/646929
Inventors:
Paul K. Piontkowski - Alexandria VA, US
International Classification:
G02B 21/00, G02B 21/06
US Classification:
359380, 359368, 359385
Abstract:
A stereo microscope includes two oculars mounted at one end of a housing and an objective lens mounted at an opposite end of the housing. Between the opposite ends of the housing is a rotatably mounted lens magnification changer with three series of bores extending diametrically therethrough. For each ocular, a line of sight extends to a prism assembly, through one of the bores of a series which contains a lens assembly and through the objective lens. Both lines of sight lie in a common plane. A LED light source is located adjacent the objective lens. Light entering through the objective lens and one of the series of bores in the lens magnification changer is received by a digital camera.
