Abstract:
An automatic drain for a compressed air system can have a valve body containing an internal fluid reservoir which communicates via a main air inlet passage with a compressed air container such that fluid can flow from the air container into the internal reservoir. A filter can be provided prior to the internal reservoir so that only fluid passes into the internal reservoir. Accumulated fluid in the internal reservoir can be drained through a discharge port regulated by a valve assembly which can be opened and closed by a controller in response to the level of fluid accumulated in the internal reservoir as detected by a sensor.
