Thin Film Thermometer With Sensors That Appear And Disappear From Respective Concealing Features According To Temperature

US Patent:
6604854, Aug 12, 2003
Filed:
May 18, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/860404
Inventors:
Randy Martin Limburg - Nuevo CA 92567
Paul Anthony Ridgway - Julian CA 92036
International Classification:
G01K 1112
US Classification:
374162, 374141, 116207, D10 57, D24189, 600549, 428 29, 428187, 428914
Abstract:
A thin film thermometer has multiple temperature sensors that individually appear within certain concealing features of the decal under different temperature ranges, otherwise blending into the concealing features and thereby disappearing into the design. Among other uses, this thermometer may be implemented as an adhesive bandage or refrigerator magnet, and may include special features such as a hologram, heat blocking backing, and ink-preserving adhesive tie coat. Also, enhanced visual effects are achieved through the coordinated multiple activation of temperature sensors.

Decal With Multiple Concealing Features That Selectively Display Or Conceal Temperature Sensors According To Ambient Temperature

US Patent:
6241386, Jun 5, 2001
Filed:
Dec 28, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/221643
Inventors:
Randy Martin Limburg - Nuevo CA
Paul Anthony Ridgway - Julian CA
International Classification:
G01K 1112
US Classification:
374162
Abstract:
A decal has multiple temperature sensors that individually appear within certain concealing features of the decal in accordance with different prescribed temperatures, otherwise blending into the concealing features and thereby disappearing into the design. The decal may depict an image of an animal, fish, flower, abstract form, or another design, such as a photograph, cartoon, sketch, or other representation. The image includes multiple separate concealing features, such as spots, fins, flower petals, abstract shapes, or other components of the decal's image. These features may have one color in common, or different concealing features may have different colors. The feature color(s) contrasts with one or more background colors in the design, which serve to visually separate the concealing features. The temperature sensors are scattered throughout the design in a visually pleasing manner. Importantly, the sensors are placed within the concealing features, where the non-activated color of each temperature sensor matches its surrounding concealing feature.

Combined Electrical Grounding And Mechanical Locking Means For Ceiling Mounted Device

US Patent:
4871327, Oct 3, 1989
Filed:
Nov 14, 1988
Appl. No.:
7/271897
Inventors:
Paul A. Ridgway - Julian CA
William P. Butterfield - Ramona CA
Assignee:
H.P. Incorporated - Ramona CA
International Classification:
H01R 1373
US Classification:
439543
Abstract:
An apparatus is provided for simultaneously electrically grounding and mechanical securing an electric device to an overhead support which comprises a generally downwardly depending downrod attached to the support; a coupling for engaging the lower end portion of the downrod to an upwardly extending hub with the mutually interfitting walls of the downrod end and the hub coupled in a male-female jointed configuration; a pair of openings in opposite sides of each of the interfitting walls, which openings are aligned; and a rod extending through the aligned openings, which rod has a head at one end in contact with the outer surface of the inner of the downrod and the hub and a thread portion opposite to the head for engaging an internal thread of the opposite opening in the outer of the downrod and hub. The apparatus ensures electrical grounding continuity and at the same time establishes a secure mounting configuration.

Venetian Blind Printing System

US Patent:
6286920, Sep 11, 2001
Filed:
Jul 29, 1999
Appl. No.:
9/364349
Inventors:
Paul Anthony Ridgway - Julian CA
International Classification:
B41J 300
US Classification:
347 2
Abstract:
Print heads with arcuate printing surfaces are used to apply images to elongated, laterally curved slats prior to their assembly into Venetian blinds. Each print head includes a print head casing having a concave or convex printing surface forming an arc shape. The print heads are distributed in series along a slat path, which is defined by a conveyor. One or more ink wells are coupled to the print head casing; each ink well may contain a separate color of ink. Many print jet orifices are evenly distributed along the printing surface, and may be arranged in an array with multiple rows and columns, for example. Each print jet orifice is coupled to one of the ink wells by a supply path. During the printing process, slats are longitudinally advanced along the slat path past the print heads. A controller regulates the slat's position relative to the print heads, and controls the position using the conveyor.
