Electronic Locking System With Emergency Exit Feature

US Patent:
6718806, Apr 13, 2004
Filed:
Mar 22, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/104326
Inventors:
Paul R. Davis - Corvallis OR
Assignee:
Videx, Inc. - Corvallis OR
International Classification:
E05B 4706
US Classification:
702783, 70223, 702787, 70283, 70379 R, 70422, 70479, 70465
Abstract:
An electronic locking system is provided wherein an electronic locks restriction of movement of a locked securing member, such as a door latch or bolt, can be selectively overridden from inside a locked enclosure by manual manipulation of a handle. The handle moves the securing member to open a locked barrier even though the electronic lock remains in a locked condition.

Electronic Locking System

US Patent:
6615625, Sep 9, 2003
Filed:
Jan 25, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/491488
Inventors:
Paul R. Davis - Corvallis OR
Assignee:
Videx, Inc. - Corvallis OR
International Classification:
E05B 4706
US Classification:
702783, 702787, 702831, 70386, 70389, 70416
Abstract:
An electronic locking system comprises a cylinder housed within and rotatable with respect to a shell. A key has a power supply. At least one of the key and the cylinder is capable of generating a signal when the key is electrically connected with the cylinder. An electrically powered locking mechanism is housed within the cylinder and includes a lock member moveable between an open position and a locked position. The lock member in the locked position interferes with movement of the cylinder. A power source is connected to the locking mechanism in response to the signal. The locking mechanism allows movement of the lock member from the locked position to the open position in response to the signal so that the cylinder may be rotated within the shell. The cylinder further includes an interfering member that resists movement of the locking member. In addition, a biasing mechanism urges the cylinder toward a home position when the cylinder is rotated away from the home position.

Portable Programmable Optical Code Reader

US Patent:
4721849, Jan 26, 1988
Filed:
Oct 2, 1985
Appl. No.:
6/782970
Inventors:
Paul R. Davis - Corvallis OR
Michael J. Brorby - Corvallis OR
Assignee:
Videx, Inc. - Corvallis OR
International Classification:
G06K 710
US Classification:
235472
Abstract:
A portable sensing device for reading data codes comprising a thin, generally planar housing of polygonal shape having a light source and light sensor at one of the corners thereof for reading data codes. The code reader contains a memory not only capable of storing the sensed data codes for future access, but capable of being programmed. A multipurpose battery charger is provided which is capable of charging multiple ones of the code readers simultaneously while receiving outputs from their memories and inputting commands or programming. Although the output from each code reader is performed optically through coded pulsing of the light source, the input occurs through the battery charger terminals, the charging current being delivered in coded pulses. Outputs from multiple code readers placed in a single charger occur sequentially in accordance with coded commands given by the charger.
