Dr. Donovan calls his approach to healthcare "patient-centered rational medicine." Under this model, the patient is at the center of all decision making. The patient's needs (physically, emotionally, socially, spiritually) and degree of illness or suffering in the context of that patient's unique set of circumstances, dictates how the doctor intervenes medically. This intervention always includes lifestyle changes, nutrition and medical interventions that best support the patient and enable optimal wellness using the least invasive yet most effective means possible from nutrition to surgery if it is so required. Dr. Donovan also is committed to patient education. He believes "an informed patient makes wise and intelligent decisions about his or her health care."
