International Planning Committee for first Joint U.S. - Russia Joint Conference on mathematics Education
Selected as one of 106 North American delegates from 36 states and territories with a rare opportunity to interact, learn and grow along with 128 delegates from acress Russia, Ukraine, Armenia, Belarus and Poland. Also selected to make two presentations at the conference: "Strategies to Meet the Needs of All Students in the Secondary Mathematics Classroom" and "Mathematics Within an Interdisciplinary Program with a Global Studies Focus." After the conference the North American Delegation visited schools in Moscow, Minsk, and St. Petersburg and talked with students and teachers to deepen our understanding of Russian Education. Our time in Moscow coincided with the October 1993 coup in Moscow, making us the "Eyewitness to History" (account in Virginia Journal of Education, May 1994, Vol. 87, No. 8)
