A patient positioning device and method of operation that is simple in construction, is easy to install, is positioned outside the sterile operating field, yet permits the surgeon to readily position, adjust, and re-position a patient during a surgical procedure is provided and includes a support adapted to be positioned against a predetermined portion of a patient's body, a drive mechanism for moving the support along a generally linear path, a source of power for the drive mechanism, a bracket for mounting the drive mechanism to an operating table, and a remote device for actuating the drive mechanism.

Abstract:
A femoral head offset and neck length required in a femoral component to be engaged with an acetabular component are determined for establishing appropriate hip mechanics in a prosthetic hip joint. Alternate selected sleeves of different lengths are interposed between a trial femoral head component and a trial femoral stem component movable relative to one another to admit each selected sleeve, interoperatively, for serial trialing to determine an appropriate trial distance, the appropriate trial distance corresponding to the required femoral head offset and neck length in the prosthetic hip joint.

Disclosed embodiments, as well as features and aspects thereof, are directed towards providing a knee crutch system. Embodiments of a knee crutch system provide support to a user's injured lower leg, safely positioning it such that it bears no weight other than its own, while enabling the user to remain mobile. Moreover, a user of a knee crutch system may enjoy mobility without obligating the use of his arms or hands to stabilize the ambulatory motion or otherwise support body weight.
