Philosophy:
Board certified in therapeutic radiology, Dr. Norman Schulman was born in Newark, New Jersey. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia, and his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Bologna, Italy. From January to December 1969, Dr. Schulman interned at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, after which he served a one-year radiology residency. From January 1971 to December 1973, Dr. Schulman served a residency in therapeutic radiology at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, New York City, New York. Dr. Schulman served as Chairman of the Department of Radiation Oncology at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital from January 1974 to February 1998.
In 1995, Dr Schulman performed the first stereotactic radiosurgerical procedure (a single stereotactic radiotherapy treatment) in Northeast Pennsylvania. He is also one of the first physicians to provide stereotactic radiotherapy treatments (daily stereotactic treatments rather than a single stereotactic treatment) in Northeast Pennsylvania.
Dr. Schulman offers his patients more than thirty years of skill and experience in the fight against cancer. With advanced treatments and therapies once only available in large metropolitan hospitals, Radiation Medicine Specialists is able to bring unmatched technology and ease of access to the people of Northeast Pennsylvania.
