Entertainment And Educational Card, And Pack Thereof, And Method Of Manufacturing Said Card

US Patent:
5890741, Apr 6, 1999
Filed:
Oct 31, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/740604
Inventors:
Milton Bernard Hollander - Stamford CT
Assignee:
Omega Engineering, Inc. - Stamford CT
International Classification:
B42D 1500
US Classification:
283 62
Abstract:
The invention provides an elongate folded card, for example of the same size as a mailable postcard when fully folded, which bears on one of its faces when fully folded a display of an entertainment nature such as a representation of playing pieces of a game, or one of a series of collectable items such as famous footballers, or a panel of a cartoon strip, whereas on its other face or faces there is provided a display of material having an educational aspect, for example commercial subject matter. In a first preferred form, the card, when fully folded, has the dimensions of a playing card so as to permit formation of a `pack` of playing cards. In another preferred form, the card when fully folded has the shape and dimensions of a mailable postcard, so as to permit formation of a mailable pack of cards of postcard size.

Light Source Aiming System And Method For Hand-Held Temperature Measuring Unit

US Patent:
5823678, Oct 20, 1998
Filed:
Dec 11, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/764659
Inventors:
Milton Bernard Hollander - Stamford CT
William Earl McKinley - Stamford CT
Assignee:
Omega Engineering, Inc. - Stamford CT
International Classification:
G01K 100, G01J 502, G01B 1100, F21V 2130
US Classification:
374121
Abstract:
Method and apparatus are provided for visibly outlining the energy zone to be measured by a radiometer. The method comprises the steps of providing a laser sighting device on the radiometer adapted to emit at last one laser beam against a surface whose temperature is to be measured and positioning said laser beam about the energy zone to outline said energy zone. The apparatus comprises a laser sighting device adapted to emit at least one laser beam against the surface and means to position said laser beam about the energy zone to outline said energy zone. The laser beam may be rotated about the periphery of the energy zone. In another embodiment, a pair of laser beams are projected on opposite sides of the energy zone. The laser beam may be further pulsed on and off in a synchronised manner so as to cause a series of intermittent lines to outline the energy zone. Such an embodiment improves the efficiency of the laser and results in a brighter laser beam being projected.

Method Of Delivering Advertising Material

US Patent:
6883430, Apr 26, 2005
Filed:
Mar 19, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/391736
Inventors:
Milton B. Hollander - Stamford CT, US
Assignee:
Omega Engineering, Inc. - Stamford CT
International Classification:
G09F003/00, B41C001/00
US Classification:
101483, 40312, 40360, 229 8718, 283 56
Abstract:
A unique packaging method is disclosed. The method advertises products related to a product shipped in a box and comprises obtaining a box, placing a product in the box, and identifying a particular product category associated with the product being shipped in the box. This may be followed by obtaining an elongated flexible planar member having a width and a length substantially greater than the width, the planar member having an upper surface and a lower surface. The flexible planar member is provided with a layer of adhesive material deposited on and covering a substantial portion of the lower surface to form a packaging tape. The tape is imprinted with indicia comprising visually perceivable information to provide a purchaser with information relating to various products within the particular product category by disposing the information on the upper surface of the tape. The box is sealed with the tape. The method thus serves to particularly well-target advertising, as it is sent to consumers of known products.

Measurement Sighting Device And Method

US Patent:
2010019, Aug 5, 2010
Filed:
Feb 17, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/378555
Inventors:
Milton Bernard Hollander - Stamford CT, US
William Earl McKinley - Stamford CT, US
International Classification:
G01J 5/08
US Classification:
374121, 33263
Abstract:
Method and apparatus are provided for visibly outlining the energy zone to be measured by a radiometer. The method comprises the steps of providing a laser sighting device on the radiometer adapted to emit more than two laser beams against a surface whose temperature is to be measured and positioning said laser beams about the energy zone to outline said energy zone. The apparatus comprises a laser sighting device adapted to emit more than two laser beams against the surface and means to position said laser beams about the energy zone to outline said energy zone. The laser beams may be rotated about the periphery of the energy zone. The laser beams may be rotated about the periphery of the energy zone. In another embodiment, a pair of laser beams are projected on opposite sides of the energy zone. The laser beams may be further pulsed on and off in a synchronized manner so as to cause a series of intermittent lines to outline the energy zone. Such an embodiment improves the efficiency of the laser and results in brighter laser beams being projected. In yet another embodiment, a primary laser beam is passed through or over a beam splitter or a diffraction grating so as to be formed into a plurality of secondary beams which form, where they strike the target, a pattern which defines an energy zone area of the target to be investigated with the radiometer. Two or more embodiments may be used together. A diffraction device such as a grating may be used to form multiple beams. In a further embodiment, additionally laser beams are directed axially so as to illuminate the center or a central area of the energy zone.

Collapsible And Conformable Container

US Patent:
5014907, May 14, 1991
Filed:
May 31, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/530623
Inventors:
Milton B. Hollander - Stamford CT
Louis Rivera - Branford CT
Assignee:
Omega Engineering, Inc. - Stamford CT
International Classification:
B65D 542
US Classification:
22911701
Abstract:
A collapsible box-like container of the type constructed to fold flat for storage and shipping, is provided with a reverse integral hinge portion which is positioned to lie in abutting parallel relation with a second integral hinge on the opposite side of a third integral hinge portion when the container is folded flat; the reverse hinge and the second hinge may be displaced simultaneously in nested relationship to define an exterior angle at the reverse hinge which is substantially congruent with the interior angle formed at said second hinge. This construction permits the effective width of the flattened container to be reduced for shipment by folding into a right angle shape so that it conforms to the exterior configuration of another object such as a book or a separate, rigid box, for example.

Radiometer Sighting Device And Method

US Patent:
7897908, Mar 1, 2011
Filed:
Feb 5, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/322653
Inventors:
Milton Bernard Hollander - Stamford CT, US
Assignee:
White Box, Inc. - Stamford CT
International Classification:
G01J 5/00
US Classification:
250214R, 348135, 374130
Abstract:
A method and device are described for controlling and/or attenuating aiming laser beam brightness in a hand held radiometer. The beam from the laser is directed at a target measurement surface and a transversely movable element member is interposed between the laser and the target to change the beam brightness on the target. In a preferred device a slidable or rotatable element intercepts the beam between the laser and target and a calibrated opening in the element of selected size and/or shape allows part of the beam to pass through the element to provide a safe brightness at the target.
