Communites in Schools/ United Way
United Way and Airbus Americas joined forces to create the first "Flying Challenge" program in the US. The first program took place in Toulouse, France in 2012. Essentially, Airbus mentors team up with high-risk mentees that are in middle school (6th, 7th, & 8th grades) once per week to help with homework, play games, offer guidance, or just talk. The ultimate goal was to keep kids in school and, better yet, to steer them toward science, technology, engineering, & math (STEM) subjects. The event's finale was held in May and many of the mentees had their very first small plane rides in Cessna C-172's flown by K-State (Salina) pilots.
Airbus 2012 Awards for Excellence
Airbus
The particular award was for “Practice Teamwork – Deployment of Transnational In-Service Repair Support” for my entire group. Due to all of the time differences between Toulouse, France, Wichita, and Beijing, China who support customers world-wide, we adopted the "follow the sun" concept in order to increase customer response time as much as possible.
